for some reason this one doesn't excite me much. Unfamiliarity I suppose and I'm not even sure it is real. If it is, it appears to be Chinese 1662-1722? Anyone know much about these? Just started getting out this season and it sure feels good again :icon_thumright:

I think they can date earlier than the 1600's I think but don't know much about them. I think Kuger probably knows as much about them as anyone on here.

cool find :icon_thumleft: MR TUFF

This is a Qing (Ching) Dynasty Coin 1644 - 1911. Its a Yiwen Qian (e when chen), equivalent to our penny.

WORD 1 is "Kang" (Caan)

WORD 2 is "Xi" (she)

Combined together, it is "KangXi" (Caan-she) Emporer from 1661 to 1722

....

WORDS 3 AND 4 are "Tong" "Bao" -- means currency

....

WORD 6 is "Bao"

WORD 5 is "Yuan" (Yen) or "Quan" (Tren)

If it is Bao Yuan, this is their royal mint in Nanjing.
If it is Bao Quan, this is their royal mint in Beijing.

Dan

Am I correct, then, that it is pre 1722? Thanks for the info.

Congratulations on your find scratcher. :icon_thumright:
The reason why I love this site so much is because I learn something new everyday. :icon_thumright:
Thanks DanFL1962! :notworthy:
