Hypothetical ??? - If one had a large amount fo gold, Storage Where How, thoughts?

Depends on how large of about it is, I would start out with it in a good safe, then if it got to a large enough amount, it would be in a safe in a safe, then if it got to a ridiculous amount, it would be in a safe, in a bigger safe, in a hidden room beneath the basement.

Same place I keep all my large amounts of gold, buried in random spots in the back yard in coffee cans.

Miller. I'm there with you. No one ever searches the yards without reason. Only downside is its there, unprotected and a random in the middle of the night could go get it.

If one had a large amount of gold, Storage Where How, thoughts? thanks

Do you plan on getting to it easily,or not ?
And how much gold 100 pounds or 10 tons ?

Is it spendable gold? Is there any spendable gold? Sell it, let someone else worry about it.

I would hire contractors to build two hidden rooms in my basement - cutting through the basement walls. When they were done, I would eliminate them all, bury them in one room, and hide the gold in the other.

Just kidding of course, I wouldn't bury them on my property, that is silly!

If you are going to bury gold, don't use metal coffee cans, metal detectors can find those, use plastic coffee cans so no one can find them with a detector!

how does that saying go? Time for more coffee?

I would have fake gold ingots/coins made and put them in a safe in my house and then hide the real gold behind a hidden wall!

A cave of suitable size.A few pounds of tannerite. And a center fire rifle.

you realize you can detect a coffee can full of gold... through a plastic coffee can?

I would give a small amount to my enemy and then tell everyone they have a lot of gold....sit back and enjoy....

Raw or processed gold? Bars, coin or jewelry? Legally obtained, found or stolen. You're just a bit vague. You could store all the gold you could carry in a footlocker and it'd probably be safe as long as you kept your mouth shut. If nobody but you knows about it you can store it under your bed. If people know about it you should put it in the bank.
Good luck.

Why would I discuss where I hide my gold on an internet forum? :icon_scratch:

I am more concerned on how I will spend all of my lottery winnings than where I will hide my tons of gold.

Keep it in your sock drawer. That's what I do. Nobody ever looks for gold there.

Heavy silliness discussing gold stashes on a public internet forum.

Here in the Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut), mob and other organized crime types invested a lot of their cash in gold coins. The preferred way to stash the coins was in sections of PVC pipe capped or duct taped at both ends. They usually buried these tubes in their tomato gardens, or below their bedroom windows. The stashes that were found (that I know about), were usually about 24" deep, and contained anywhere from 25-100 gold Eagles, Krugerrand's, or Maple Leaf's.

Just never know! :icon_thumright:

I see no reason to collect or keep large quantities of native gold other than some specimens. For them I would have them fully documented, appraised for collectors value, insured, then loan them to museums/institutions for public display so that all can enjoy them. I would probably keep some gold at home, in a safe, with a few of lesser value on display.

Just wishful thinking on my part. Like Clay, right now what gold I have is in a sock drawer.8-)
