Thanks for the tip, I already cut the suction nozzle to accept the 3/4” pipe but maybe I can weld a restroction on the end.

You can tap the inside of the 3/4 pipe with a 1/2" tap then reduce it to whatever works best for you.

use a reducer to get down to 1/2" like i did on my first one (see reducer bushing below valve)

the more used one is my first 3" , the less used one is a 4" and doesnt get used as much, since i dont run my big highbanker as a 4" much

On mine I welded the pipe straight up to the side of the nozzle and then drilled it out from the inside using a step drill till it sprayed to my liking.

Got it welded up, since I already had cut the nozzle to accept the 3/4” pipe I will try it with that then reduce if needed. The threading won’t work because I welded it flush, but can just weld a restrictor on if needed. Not the prettiest welds, first real project with a little wire feed, usually stick welding thicker metal. Will give a report but winter is coming quick up here. Before and after.

Got a short chance to try out the hydro-force nozzle. Have some more work to do on it, need to get some different hose had lay flat to 6’ pressure hose and neck down the 3/4” pipe a bit.

Definitely understand the surging issue now. The area I was working was just out of the creek. It was not packed enough to
Hold much water so required flooding then sucking to get enough water moving to lift the gravel into the nozzle. Seemed like flushing a toilet into the sluice repeatedly.

Finding that sweet spot where you can flood and suction seems key for the sluice to run right. Thanks for the tips, maybe until next year before I get to test it more.

Yeah that phenomenon you described well as toilet flushing the sluice is hell on recovery, tends to scour out the riffles. A sweet spot can be found. What kind of pump are you running? I use a gold divers 1556 1.5x2” pump on a 5.5hp B&S. I run 2” hose from the pump to the nozzle.

I have a GX160 with an old P160 2”x1.5” Picked up some regular hose so I can get rid of the long section of lay flat I was using between the motor and a short section of regular hose.
