After doing some research i found an old park in my area which was supposedly the site of two camps during the revolutionary war. Me and my dad tried to detect where the camps were located but found that it was buried in garbage. we were finding cans and melted pieces of aluminum 6 inches down. so we moved to another part of the park. we found some wheats right away but nothing really old. my dad found a merc under one of the trees, but still nothing really exciting. we started to walk down the park and i got a quarter/ half dollar signal. after digging down about 7 inches i pulled out our first ever large cent, after finding several colonial coppers we finally managed a large cent ;D we cleaned it up and it turned out to be from 1816. then several feet away i dug up an ox shoe. after that it was getting late and i had to goto work so we left.

Way to go  Sometimes research pans out and sometimes it doesn't. Looks like it definitely worked in this case. Fantastic hunt you should be proud of. The large cent is cool :headbang:

WOW!! great finds, congrats on lg. cent :icon_thumright:

Aluminum was not identified until well after the CW, so you were wise to move. Use the abundance of aluminum as an indicator of modern usage in the future.
