Oxbowbarefoot came out for the day and we hit a spot we tried a few weeks ago. On our way it started to rain heavy but nothing that would stop us. The first two site we hit didn't really have much but we hoped the rain would help us find something. I found a few buttons, a small buckle and a pewter rosette. We spent about a half a day in there with not much else so we decided to move on to the next spot. The next spot is one I've been to a few times but this was his first trip. I found my only spanish silver here so I was thinking with the both of us we would have a much better chance to find more. The Spanish silver didn't work out but I did find a nice shoe buckle frame which I'm going start cleaning sometime tonight. A few more buttons and one of the better looking strap guides I've found. Happy hunting.

Great looking buckle buddy. Day hunting with a good bud is a great day indeed. Especially when it includes a few nice finds

A good day in the dirt (and rain)
I see you got one of those itsy-bitsy-teeny-tiny buckles. Cool.

Thanks. Started out with cold and rain but then the sun came out and it ended being a really nice day.

Thanks Rick. I have a few of those little buckle. Any idea what they were used for?

If memory serves...I was told when I got my first one they were used for undergarments. At the time a book picture was posted.

That's a great looking buckle frame and should clean up nice. It's always good to see your posts because you always dig what I like. I look forward to reading more.

That's a nice stash of relics, those shoe buckles/frames are awesome! I got stumped on one a month ago, looked amazing until I realized it was a reproduction

Thanks Rick for the info

Joey thanks for the kind words. I always e joy seeing what you guys are finding down south as well. You have some awesome spots to hunt and always pulling something amazing.

Cjon that would drive me crazy about the reproductions but knowing the real thing could be there would keep me looking for more.

Very nice finds, I'll have to look again later, pix are small on this crappy phone of mine

Nice very old pewter rosette, most found are not pewter, so that is a good find..........

That pewter rosette reminded me of one I found awhile back. Very cool indeed. Didn't even notice it when I first saw your post. Here's mine

Luv finding history, nice diggs

Thanks Don. id have to check but I think I have more pewter than brass/copper.

Abe, that's a really nice one. Anything that comes with a design is a great find in my book

Yes, its rare to get a complete strap guide, with the U shaped bit attached. Decorated is a bonus.

Just going by what I have seen posted over the years and what I have in my own personal collection, the pewter ones seem to be in the minority.

Don

Nice assortment of buckles and buttons! Congrats!

I'm surprised you guys didn't need a boat out there the way it's been pouring rain this fall. Hopefully it will help you find more relics and coins.
