Metal Detecting
I have found metal detecting is just another way to get out and experience some of the little things many in our hurry and exceed culture never notice or just don't appreciate. I think growing up being the only boy in my family forced me out into nature ( I refused to play my sisters' games, lol ), and I learned at an early age to respect but seek harmony with God's gifts to us. Happy hunting to all, but remember to stop long enough to really look.....

Isn't that place beautiful? Spent a lot of time down there as kid, i always wondered ... whats at the bottom of the "tub". HH

Yes sir! My first thought was" Can you imagine the number of rings that have fallen down there?". My buddy said he thinks it is close to 20 ft deep in the "tub". He used to dive and pick up rocks as a kid from the bottom.

Welcome to TNet, Hunlock! I saw your name and wondered if you might live here in Pa. I am south of you in Mocanaqua.

Thanks! I know Moc pretty well. Really interested in getting started in this hobby! Got a detector picked out, now all I have to do is convince my wife I need it! Hahaha

What are you thinking of? Hope you convince the wife. Show her some of the rings I have found in the album on my profile and let her know they were all found in Luzerne and Columbia Counties. Maybe that will help. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions.

Oh , I've been showing her! Haha
I'd like to go with the AT Pro for a few reasons, but mainly because I'm nervous about outgrowing an entry MD. I figure the "standard " setting on the ATP can get me started.

Great choice. I am very happy with mine. I started with a used older Garrett and learned the basics with it. I am looking forward to some water hunts in warm weather with mine. Let me know if you get one. Maybe we can get together sometime and hunt.

Hi Old Dude, not a metal detector, been a picker long before American Pickers, started cleaning out homes for banks and lawyers in 1972. Stopped a few years ago when all my bankers and lawyers either died or retired. Have had auctions from Boston to California and Florida, what a ride, what great fun.....Joe

Thanks Hunlock 32, don't forget to get some goodies from Kliamovich's , great kielbassy from long ago.....Joe

I bet you have some great stories, Joe. I know a father/son team that does that from Bloomsburg.

OD,
I'm glad I stopped by this post. I needed a new photo to scare the critters away. The one of Quindy and Dman was getting faded. :tongue3:
JK buddy,
Doug

Darn it. I knew I should have applied for a patent for my crow scaring image!

Hi Old Dude, yes I have a few stories, if you have ever been to Traver's Auctions, one of his favorite items auctioned over the many years is a 42 ounce sterling silver "Tiffany" loving cup, three handled from 1911 with the names of all the prominent "Big Whigs" in the valley. I found it in a bowling bag in a garage in the heights. Interestingly it was a bowling trophy for all the Big Whigs with their team names and the members of the teams.....Joe
