yep she wants to see a photo of my buttons --- the back mark says "JOHN RUGHEIMER SONS" with a front SOUTH CAROLINA STATE SEAL --- rugheimer came from bavaria (germany) before the war and was a merchant tailor bussinessman --- he was a well known blockade runner in charleston, S.C. --he was injuried in 1864 and had to give up blockade running and set up RUGHEIMER AND SONS MERCHANT TAILORS which lasted many years -- a famous lavish home was built by him and his family and is currently a B & B in charleston ,S.C.

top left is a CSN NAVAL button with a "firmin & sons 153 strand london"" back mark ---- top right is a german style double headed eagle family crest or "livery" type buttom -- back mark is "c & j weldon cheapside london "

the lower left is the rear and lower right the front of the RUGHEIMER SONS "SOUTH CAROLINA STATE SEAL" BUTTONS.

Careful. She may want to know where and how you got them. Very nice buttons!

I would trust her as far as you could throw her. . . . .

what does she weigh?? ;D

Well, am assuming she cant just take em from ya..and as far as where you got em from, thats NONE of her dam business... who knows Ivan, she may wanna buy em off for the museum..which would be a nice feather in your cap.. so please keep us posted or at least me, as I love hearing this stuff..either way, I feel its a honor to have a museum interested in something of yours.. wtg Ivan.

Delete the pic's Ivan....She might be lurking.Don't know what to tell ya,see what she has to say and remember to pick her brain.Good Luck!!

I got them legit even got a bill of sale for them from the coin shop dealer who bought them from the kin of a wealthy old gent who had passed away -- he had the buttons made into "french style cuff links" many years ago when it was fashionible to do so .(I wish he hadn''t since it kind of hurts their collector value to some "purist" button collectors) ---the coin dealer got them as part of the old mans total collection of "stuff" but frankly didn't give a squat about the buttons only the "coins" --because as he said --- "I'm a coin dealer -- I REALLY HAVE NO INTEREST IN BUTTONS" --- so I bought them and even got a "reciept" for them --- so their mine all mine--- nice and legal -- now basically I'm just getting her to "prove" it for me --- sent her the scan you see above.
also sent a copy of the scan to relic man also. --- he's concisdered to be highly knowledgible & is very well respected. --- just gettting them to "prove" my find --- after that its time to let the bidding begin.
