human skull ?

I photographed this item which appears to be very close to camera lens. This picture was taken deep underground also deep underwater. Everytime I look at this picture I think its a human skull. I did a bit of google seaching of images of the human skull which is comprised of several plates of bone that eventually grow to one piece . The cracks are called sutures. Which very much resemble the cracks in this object.

Don't get what the strips are over the item. Is it grass? Weeds? Long strips of junk?

Normally I'd never advocate this but touch it and turn it over. If it turns out to be a skull replace it where you found it, apologize for disturbing it's resting place, then call the police.

If it's not a skull, get a better picture and show us what it is. Looks can be deceiving especially from such a tiny photo.

Heck, yesterday I almost swerved off the road because I saw two "deer" standing at the edge of the pavement. Turned out to be two mailboxes, one slightly higher than the other with their flags up. Little flags looked like ears and the mailboxes like deer in outline against the dark night.

Would have been a bad day trying to explain to the insurance company how a pair of mailboxes tried to jump out of the night and run in front of my car.

calling me beekrock is fighting words. but anyways these objects lie deep underground and deep underwater. these objects were found by me while searching for a way into a cave system i believe contains kidds cache. these objects are in the same cave system i didnt expect to find artifacts in this location but further investigation by me makes me seriously believe these objects are associated with hessien and british plunder hidden during the revolutionary war by general burgoynes men after surrenduring at saratoga.there is no way yet to touch these objects .. waiting till water levels drop before any new attempts are made . possibly around may or june. kiddrock33

I'd say it was one of those antique wash bowls.
With cracks as indicated in blue.

what i see is the similarity of the suture lines in the original picture. hopefully someday ill know exactly what this is. its most definitly curious. the reason i suspect this object is because a local known serial killer who was caught a few years back and is now in mass state prison . was seen by my t hunting partners walking alone near this cave. back when he was an active killer. several of his young victoms have never been found . he did tell the state police that the missing child in particular was not alone refering that more children lie with her. and his lawyer will not allow him to tell where these children lie for obvious reasons. this has been on my mind ever since i first took these pictures last spring. i firmly believe it is what i think it is. i have been contemplating the possibility that i must contact the state police but i dont want to look like a morbid person to even think this. or a suspect ,if indeed it is a human ,dealt with a criminal act. plus the feeling of the childs family weather it is or isnt a victem. i know ill most likely regret typing this. as i do now with the post about using it as a drinking cup. that was just sarcasim from stories i have read about people using skulls as initiations.

I might be all wet, but if you're that close to it, instead of sticking your tongue on it, why not reach out with your hand, wrap your fingers around it and pull it toward you? If it's a skull, you'll know soon enough and can put it back where it was and call authorities. If it's not, then we'll all know.

I believe kidds been taking pictures using a camera mounted on a long pole...don't think the items he's found are readily accessable..

Now IF IT WAS ME, and I had a clue of possibly some treasure or cache. I would take some suba diving lessons which are pretty cheap and not too expensive anyway and you can even rent the equipment after you certify. Make friends with someone more experienced in suba diving and make the dive with them and cut a deal with them, (if you want), but I wouldn't recommend taking lessions and going into a dive by yourself. If it is human remains and you also find cache or treasure get the cache and treaasure out first, then report the findings of human remains to the authorities. You know what would happen if you contact the authories. They will definitely close off the site to anyone while an investigation goes on and they WILL send divers in and they will search the whole area. If the divers find anything of value or a cache especailly if it is older than dirt, you can certainly bet you will be cut out of the picture as well as the cache or treasure.

Grant, don't get me wrong in anyway of what I am about to say but one would have to SERIOUSLY think about it, I agree with reporting human remains to authorities especially if they are murder victims. But, if you do dive and KNOW for sure your researched cache is or could be in the same cave. Finding the cache is IMPORTANT, but ALSO REPORTING human remains. But logically removing the cache out before reporting the remains, (DO NOT TOUCH OR MOVE ANYTHING AROUND THE HUMAN REMAINS EVEN IF THERE ARE THINGS OF VALUE BY OR CLOSE TO THEM) But, if you find cache further away from the remains, I would get the cache out first before reporting human remains.

I don't want anyone to think differently about me or my oppinion, but we ALL KNOW what the authorities and Uncle Sam does when a cache or treasure is found. You can't change the past of someones life's turmoils and trageties and you are not going to make anything better except reporting human remains a day later after you get your cache out. JMO.

TheHarleyMan2, I agree with you. Report the remains AFTER doing a thorough search of the area. That's not being greedy or heartless, it's being aware of the one and only chance you'll get if it is a skull.

I understand this completely... I may not agree.

But, why post it here? LOL I would hope that I'd keep my mouth closed if that was the case.

I'll throw my $.02 in. Unfortunately - I have seen several skulls intact and otherwise - and I'm with the other's on this one. I highly doubt it's a skull. The ridge going through the middle down and right is attached to the part that is showing the "sutures" - and nothing I can think of on the skull resembles the ridgeline in that straightness (is that a word Pardon me for my hillbillyness ) and for that length. It does look like a bowl with a chunk and a crack in it that someone pointed out earlier.


Humor me and tell me if I'm right. Camera on a cord/rope down a hole (sink hole probably) near the cave that you're looking for another way into. That would explain a lot. Also if it is it's untelling what kind of trash has been thrown down there.

IF I'm right - BE CAREFUL!!! Sinkholes and caves are complete different animals and while they might be connected eventually the dangers in sinkholes are not worth it.

I have personally been in that water and helped with some of the work thats been done in that cave and being in the water in the cave even with a wet suit it was way colder then I was used to and allot of unknowns in that cave that plague me when I go in there
