looks like one of those old timers threw out a muddy rock and you uncovered it. congrats do a specific gravity tests on it will tell you just how much gold you have

Hey Fred,. About to do one in about 20 minutes and will post the result. I would also like your opinion on a rock that looks like it was used for currency thousands of years ago by the way the chip mark encircles the egg shaped specimen. It is definitely gold because of viewing it with a

Jewelers loupe and it reads 22kt on a scratch test. It was unearthed at a construction site about 20 feet underground in Colorado, btw.

And for the record, I am aware of what gold is and is not. I feel like most people on this forum enjoy putting down other miners in order to build ego or maybe just to feel more intelligent in a class way. I am in no way refering to you, just stating a fact. Here are a few items I have with real gold in them. I wish people would learn more about epithermal vents and gold because it would really open up their world about gold in a big direction. What was the result of the specific gravity test?

Just from a viewer's point of view the group of photos that you posted up (6 out of 8)are mostly blurry, out of focus, taken in a dark setting so it's hard to get a sense of what you are showing.

If anyone were to question your claims I could understand why they might.
I can't see what your naked eye can because your pictures are so out of focus. Maybe if you supplied some macro shots of the best gold areas we could see it for ourselves. Otherwise to the casual non-miner like myself, they look like any other rock that hundreds of people post on here & normally claim they are something that they are not. ie artefacts.
When you see hundreds of posts similar to this with wild claims, you may start to understand why you need better pictures.
PS. This is meant to be helpful to you as a newbie, as we oldies have seen it all, & your get a much better reaction with high quality photos.

I'm curious and this is just me wanting wanting learn more. What shows that rock has gold in it? I would of never thought that would have gold. I want to learn because I'm always wanting to expand my knowledge treasure hunting wise. I'm naive to much beyond metal detecting.

I too am curious what you are seeing that we are not. Is it microscopic gold that needs to be removed by crushing the rock and dissolving it in chemicals to extract it? If so, you'll need to complete that process before claiming any gold amount.

When someone says it's "5-7 pounds of gold ore that appears to be quite solid through out" that would be a historic find for a nugget of that size here in the USA in this day and age.

Here's what i think of when someone says they found "5-7" pounds of gold ore: This was found in CA and weighs in at 6lbs and sold for $400,000 and the gold is unmistakable:

I'm by far a pro but I do know what gold looks like. I'm also aware of epithermal vents and how the natural occurance creates the way for gold to come up to the surface or towards the surface anyway. Do epithermal vents also make gold look like average rocks?

Also, to follow up on an earlier thread you started, you had said you found this rock in your friends yard and that it contained "50-100" diamonds of a good 5-10 carats each. You said you would post up some closer pics of the diamonds for those who inquired but never did. Could you follow up with those pictures of the diamonds?

This find of yours too would be historic in the US and all depending on their quality, could also be worth millions.

I'm quite skeptical of this thread and the other but at the same time I don't know it all and don't want to be rude. Just trying to see if there is something missing here. But with what I know just looks like common types of rocks. Though being careful as to not assume either way.

Maybe the title should have read Huge piece of Gold ...Or? (22kt - 5lbs) instead of Huge piece of Gold Ore (22kt - 5lbs) at least until the issue is resolved?
