Going from the sun outwards, the size of the iron core of the planets decrease. That is, Mercury has the largest core followed by Venus, Earth with Mars having the smallest core.

As the planets cooled the heavier metals concentrated towards the center so that, for example, it is theorized that earth has a inner core composed of iron-nickel. This is verified by the Voisey Bay, Labrador nickel deposit. That deposit was formed when a conduit was made available at the intersection of continental plates.

My theory is that, since Mercury has a large iron core it should also have a greater proportion of heavy metals such as nickel, possibly gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc and so on.

So if interested in a TH trip, bring a suntan lotion with a block of about 2,000.

;)

I am partly responsible for the wonderful pictures that you have seen from the Hubble. I was the Project Engineer at Marlow Industries (Dallas) for the thermoelectric heat pumps that control the temperature of the LCD in the widefield planetary camera which takes the pictures.

You buy, I'll fly... ;D
Pretty interesting stuff, makes sence to me...

Bob, thanks for your help with the Hubble,, love the pics that come from it... I use them for my decktop...
Good luck, & Happy hunting~

WHOA- MAN I'm ready, when do we leave, can we come back to Earth?, If we can not come back to Earth what value will the precious metal be, and to whom?, HMMMMMMM. If I have a gunnie sack full of GOLD can I carry it around as Mercury would have less gravity, and would thus be lighter?, HMMMMMM, can I bring my sluice box?, oh but is there water on mercury? HMMMmm, what will we eat? is there oxygen to support a BBQ fire? hmmmmm, let me know, I will find my Copper Tone, and my FLASK! hea hea ;D

Anyone else remember the old TV show where Andy Griffith was a junkyard owner and built his own space rocket? Seems like we need to start combing junkyards! Is there a seven-11 on Mercury where we could buy batteries?
bob, like everyone else said, thanks for your work. That Hubble has given us all a million dollars worth of views of space.

grizzly bare

Couldn't we point an LRL toward Mercury first? I would hate to
take such a long trip for nothing. ;D

it is posiable to grow rocket hulls in the ocean by accretion of minerals desolved therein with the process of electolysis, and useing the hydrogen and oxygen as fuels to send it into space to whatever destination (venus, murcury) that would be the cheepest way.how deep do you think valuable minerals will be from the surface? best regards quemars
