ok true enough, but as RJC says 'look it up' google her and I bet you'll give her your stamp of approval

Its finally summer down here in Ga. Its in the 90s and its just getting started. Aug is always the hotest month here. I felt bad for all the northern states getting that hot weather. We have central ac here but I keep it at 80 during the day b/c the ac would just keep running and then burn up if I didnt. I leave the roof fans on all day long which helps. Some peoples electric bills hit $500 and up this time of the yr here.

This is what I dream about when its 10 below and snowing. In the water detecting from 6 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. every morning. Then after lunch a long nap. Life is pretty good when you are retired.

well, being soooo young I am not near retirement ( But if you wish to contribute I have a paypal account) I do like summer better than winter, when all you can do is watch victory garden!

Yesterday was 100 in Vineland, NJ...felt like temp was 110.

I was out on the deck for an hour soaking up the Vit D as the kids were playing with the hose and sprinkler.

Too darn hot to swing...

Cranked up the central AC and the ceiling fans and it is delightful. I miss 70 and breezy. Heck...I would take 80 and breezy at this point.

Life NEA- you are experiencing a typical Missouri summer.
Jeff- them gals fannin would not cool me down.
I take Gatorade and water with me every day. I fill a qt. gatorade jug 1/2 full laying on its side at night. In the morning I fill it with cold gatorade and put it in 6 pack cooler with a butter tub sized block of ice & a couple of ice trays. Mid morning I drink 1/2 the cold gatorade. At mid afternoon I shake the jug and make a slush. I also put a couple of ice cubes under my collar at the back of my neck. I'm soaking wet anyway and it seems to help. Other than that ya just put your head down and go.

This summer has been especially brutal, at least in the Northeast, with lots of humidity and higher than average temps. I know a lot of you are down south or out west, so I'm not going to complain!

I've also been noticing some really great finds, so I know that the heat doesn't stop you die hard md'ers. I really wonder how you all do it!

Here in Vermont, most of the homes are not air conditioned. This is probably because in typical practical Yankee fashion, it's not practical to incur that kind of expense for something that you are only going to need a few weeks out of every year.

Over the winter, we moved to a lovely post and beam home where all of the windows are of the crank out variety. Despite the fact that we have 3 window AC units, there is just no way of fitting them in the windows. I understand that they make units that do not get installed in the window, but being a hard-headed Yankee myself, I keep thinking that this hot spell is going to end any day, and then I'll regret the purchase.

On top of the heat, I've been suffering with a hum dinger of a summer cold, complete with sore throat, cough and congestion. I feel absolutely awful!! So, to get through, we've all been spending a lot of time at the lake, where the water is like a bathtub, or if we are up to a hike, at the local falls, where the water is COLD.

I've not touched the metal detector in something like three weeks, and I'm going through withdrawal. I've been spending time researching places to go, but that's only adding to my frustration. I find myself hoping for a good storm to cool things off..and, I hate to admit it, but fall sounds good about now.

Wishing everyone a great weekend and a break in the weather!
(I like the signature, Art. I want to die yelling, "Damn, what a ride!") TTC

I take Gatorade with me. I use the 8 pack style. I freeze a couple solid and then take the rest just cold. As the day goes by and the frozen ones start to melt I drink a little out of them and then add the others to the frozen ones. I dont have enough arms to carry a cooler so this really helps while out in the heat. It usually last about 4 hours and I am usually tired by then anyway and ready to go. Works great, HH everyone rock

Margaritas help here in Idaho. It's been 100 + off and on for a couple of months. The extended forecast is looking better though. I'll give them a nickle if they are right. No lake of waterfalls nearby so you are in luck there. Get better soon!! We got a Garret MD from the local pawn shop but it was too rainy to go out. Now it's too hot to go out and the rattlers are everywhere. I too can't wait for Fall!

Spray painted a house on monday, wasnt that fun in 95 degree heat,99% humidity.Ive been leaving work early everyday.Just work until it becomes unbearable then make my escape.

I just don't know how I handle the 75 degree weather I have at the coast here in the Pacific Northwest. Been a struggle but I manage some how.

Thats just wrong 75 degrees! We get maybe 2 weeks after winter of that kind of weather then its straight up to 80s and then mid 90s for the rest of the summer till about Oct then we get the 70 again sometimes not long though. Usually straight to winter again. I moved here from Fl 6 yrs ago to get away from the heat and now it get hotter here than Fl every summer and it is colder too. Im in North Ga. 75 sounds good.

I'm almost sure she hit the Big 4-0 by now she May be considered "Vintage"
if sold on Ebay.

Milla has already hit 30 , that's probably her summit,
but may last till 40 IF she don't get any work done
but that's still a long ways off.
I bet she's already showing signs of heat flashes & Temper Tantrums

The heat, humidity doesn't bother me. I worked outdoors for years. i slap the sun screen on and out int the heat all day. I just move slower when it's humid. Air conditioners, I have no use for them. They are always set too cold. After working out doors, they make me shiver when in a room for a few minutes. Gosh, I really didn't want to say you guys and gals are soft when it comes to the heat.:laughing7:
