Hey y'all, I'm a 20yr old college student and I live near Jackson, Ms. I've only recently gotten into metal detecting, but I'm already hooked! I've found part of an old percussion rifle (just the hammer and side-plate), as well as old spikes and bars on my property, where there was a Civil War era house, and I've got some friends with property where there was actually a small Civil War skirmish (and I was given permission to hunt on it!). This is an awesome sport and I hope to learn alot from you much older and wiser forum members!

Welcome from Delaware! I heard that in Mississippi at Christmas time, all the nativity scenes have the three wise men wearing fireman's hats, because it says in the Bible that they came from "afar".

Sorry, it's the only Mississippi joke I know. Good luck with what sounds like a couple of great sites to hunt. Post pictures of your finds!
