How to locate King George and Ring Master?

In reality, I'm sure they're great guys.

But their show personae, are so ridiculously over the top in regard to celebrating finds, as to insult the viewers' intelligence. It is painful to watch.

I don't fault them. They're just trying to do a show about detecting, and make a buck in the process.

But they're getting really bad advice from whoever produces their show. They have misinterpreted their success as validation of the show's pandering formula. But the show hasn't been successful BECAUSE of that formula. It has been successful in SPITE of it.

It would be even more successful if they celebrated their finds like people, instead of cartoons.

I really WANT to enjoy the show... but the pandering pretense makes it very difficult.
Don't sweat the small stuff there Bud...
Are you trolling on the Garrett forum just because you have one of their pinpointers? Or did you jump at the chance to rag on the show.... seems that's the 'in' thing to do lately

Not sure why you feel the need to personalize this.

I'm offering my opinion about a television show.

Seems a bit silly to get nasty about it.

But have a nice day anyway.

They may be good guys. But to many uninformed fools are taking up detecting for the wrong reasons due to this show. They still do not have a segment on proper plug digging and use of a drop cloth. Plus putting the "expected" prices for the finds is horrible. As a result to many people thinking they are going to get rich, grab their AT-Pro's and head to a park recreating the surface of the moon.

I enjoy the show. It entertains me and that's why I watch TV. The fact that the subject material is my hobby is the only reason I watched it to begin with.

Some people overlook the fact that Diggers is very popular with younger viewers and so the producers try to aim it in that general direction. George and Tim also have to work to the medium that is television - they have to convey the excitement of finding something historically important. Combine that with a younger target audience and it's not surprising that some find their antics too silly and over-the-top.

Try watching Diggers with a ten-year-old. They love it! As with all hobbies, we need to be bringing new young people into it, feeding their enthusiasm while teaching them responsibility. I think Diggers does that - especially the new season with its increased emphasis on history and archaeology. The show does a great job of sparking curiosity for history AND metal detecting. That can't be a bad thing.

It's a hundred times better than American Diggers - that show was unbelievably bad for metal detecting as a hobby. The main guy was an ex-professional wrestler who was driven solely by profit. It gave a completely unrealistic idea of metal detecting. At one point they "found" a cache of muskets or something similar with a White's MXT. The next shot showed them bringing in a backhoe and digging the artifacts out of a six-foot-deep hole! Wow I guess I need to get one of those MXTs! I believe the show was exposed later on - the producers were buying antiques in one town then "finding" them at the dig sites, then selling them back to other antique dealers. If that's the alternative, give me KG and Ringy any day!

I'm sure that 99% of the people that bash the show still watch it

I think some people are jealous because they will never make the money MDing that KG and Ringy have...

We tape all the shows too. I have gotten past their silliness but like most people I think they do go overboard, some of the finds are recreated and am horribly jealous of the places they get to hunt. I give it a 93, it's got a nice beat and its easy to dance too...d2

Lizard Prince, I must admit I watch the show on occasion because hey what are my other options, Dating Naked, Survival Naked, Big Brother or any of a dozen other reality shows!!

I will have to ask though how could you have possibly learned anything about how to use ANY metal detector from this show. The audio doesn't even match the real time swing or correct tone for the conductivity of their targets? Also they show them using way to fast of a sweep speed. Honestly you can learn way more from YouTube about detecting than this show.

PS: I did learn how to bounce off of a tree when I find roundness in the hole!!!

Ha! I made 29 cents on my last hunt!

I have found enough stuff to pay for a vehicle if I would just sell it but I can't bring myself to do that, not yet anyway...d2

Love the show, i bought an AT Gold same as they use, i have learned much from them, some shows show the settings they are using and i add that to my arsenal, the newer shows are much different than the earlier ones, they now work with an archeologist and promote proper metal detecting etiquette,

anything they do is far better than any kardashian or housewives show!!

This may be true of some, but I thimk that most are jealous of the places they get to detect. I know that I am.
