I paid a dollar for this bottle, along with some Victorian bottles and a 1920's salt shaker with the original label, 5 bottles for 5 dollars total. This bottle has an open pontil scar, and looks to be hand blown. Do any of you have an idea of when this bottle may have been made? Thanks!

Flared lip and open pontil would put it in the early 1800's. say 1820-1850.

HD is correct - Most all open pontil bottles were made pre 1860. Most likely 1840 - 1850 for this one. nice bottle.

Unless the bottle was made in a less advanced country. Euorpean and other countries still used old manufacturing processes long after we went to wooden molds, and even metal molds.

This seller had tons of bottles and other items for a dollar. I got a couple late 1800's medicine bottles, a 1920's salt shaker with the paper label still intact, and an unopened 1960's jigsaw puzzle in a metal can shaped box, and this bottle. I saw some nice inkwells too, I will pick them up next time I am there if they are still there!
