i almost forgot.........i wanted to make a post about how my ace 250 did in the salt sand of ocean city md. all in all it was a lot better than i had expected it to perform! in the dry sand it was a champ. i could set the sensitivity pretty high with no falsing and had no problems. in the wet sand i had mixed results. it depended how wet the sand was. in the damp low tide sand it did very well,no falsing to speak of. found some good stuff with it. the only place i had a falsing problem was in the really wet sand right where the waves were crashing. lots of falsing there, although it was pretty obvious that the chirps i was getting were not solid signals.if i had spent more time in the real wet sand im sure i would have gotten used to it.(i did back off the sensativity in the saturated sand as well).all in all ......i give the ace a grade of "C+" at the beach.

Yep Just tried mine at a salt water beach as well. Same results as you got. Dry sand was no problem found lots of stuff but nothing great, clad, spoons, the usual stuff. Worked my way down towards the water, Found the lip/drop that the tide makes in the sand no prob there either. Went down closer to the water at low tide and got a wack of false targets consistant at 6", when I dug down right at the 6" mark was salt water filling my hole.

Not a bad machine, tried it at a fresh water beach also and no problems at all any where on the beach or in the water.
