I found this in a box of jewelry this weekend for four dollars. I will attach a link to the site if you want to read the exact measurements. But it is solid turquoise. I took and had it appraised sort of but they have never seen anything like it. I had an offer of $225. I probably should have took it I don't know?

Am I crazy high on my price?

I might (or probably would) have passed on the $225 offer but I think $500 might or might not be plum crazy! I'm thinking $350 for some reason! I don't blame ya for listing for $500 or make offer!

Oh BTW When I first saw it I thought it was real green copper. It is a very cool piece!

Really beautiful piece. I'm not familiar with turquoise, but I thought aged copper as well when I first saw it. REGAL!!

I saw it and wondered if it was real myself. Is that a red coral branch? If you could identify the type of Turquoise it is, it may help to sell it. Personally, I would have taken the $225 myself.

turq in the poc!

I found the above. Similar size but different. I probably would have passed on the $250. On the other hand once you break $250 I have seen some pretty amazing turquoise cuff bracelets.

Did you make any kind of counter offer? On a piece like that, I may adjust the title a few times to garner a few other collector types of interest such as "effigy" and bird types and things.

The link is not working. What did the owl go for?

The carving is very crude and the turquoise most likely stabilized, I would have taken the money and ran.

you know the old saying....a bird in the hand, is worth two in the bush, I would've taken the $225

I probably should have... I have 3 watchers, not even listed a week. Hopefully someone will jump on it.

I will try to post it again. I'm so bad at using the forums sometimes.

I change the title, sometimes the category and then I lower the price. Many times I've had an item not sell and the next week it will get several bids when the could have bought it much cheaper the week before.

It doesn't say how big that owl is but it sold for $700 so going by that sold listing I would stick hard at $400+ on your eagle. And you are so correct about some items selling for more than the buyer could have bought it the week before for. Have had that happen hundreds of times & I love it when it happens!

I'd be tempted to run it auction style starting at $399.00 or maybe $375. It might get a lot of attention thus bids that way.

In the owl auction listing, there are pictures of it next to a ruler. You have to click on the original listing, then scroll through the pictures, they are near the end. Looks like it was about 3 1/2" high and 2" long. Best of luck with your sale, neat find! :)

I'm kind of with gunsil on this one. The only way it would be worth your asking price is if it is natural turquoise. Of which only like 2-5% of turquoise nowadays is. Not saying someone wouldn't pay that for it, just saying that imo, it's not really worth that much. Isn't one of the eyes missing too?
