How many yrs treasure hunting?

Started in 1971 with a White detector - no screen, no discriminator. But the parks were full of coins then. Too bad I had to work such long hours or I might have been able to spend more time in the parks diggings up coins by the handfuls. There were no flip tabs to worry about then. There were tons of bottlecaps but they were easily distinguished by a different tone. Boy, those were the days for guys with any kind of a detector.

When I was a kid my folks used to take me along to antique stores and antique shows; at least once a month or so. When I turned 6 or 7, my late grandfgather gave me his lifetime coin collection. When I was 9 or 10 my dad brought home an old White's coinmaster. I still remember driving around with him looking for old foundations in the woods to detect.

Those 3 events shaped me into what I am today.

In high school I remember when ebay came out. I used to sell Magic the gathering cards on it along with other random things like old toys and stuff I didnt want any more. My senior year of high school, I got WAY into cars. I used to go to the "U-Pull-It" and buy parts to resell on ebay and model specific forum classifieds. I fell out of it all for many years and then in 2005 I got back into Magic the Gathering and I was into it very seriously. I built a MASSIVE collection over the next 5 years or so. Around 2009ish I started a new job and one of my coworkers asked me if I knew anything about metal detecting. Well, he rekindled my old love for treasure hunting and that started my journey here on treasurenet. I started coin roll hunting, going to garage sales, flea markets, and coin collecting. The rest is history...
