I have rearranged my display case now I think 4 times in the last couple days I have messed with detector programs watched the diggers marathon (they drive me crazy) and now I'm on the couch looking at the frozen snowy ground and I'm about to take my pick axe out and go for it. I love New York but it sucks for detecting in the winter.

we have bare ground popping up were the grader scraped it
other wise there 3 feet....

I never have cabin fever. It pays to have a variety of hobbies. Winter goes too quick for me. Bring on the snow.

I have actually been out digging a little, despite the 20" of snow we seemed to have piled up from 2 nice storms we had in the last 2 weeks.

I Get out there with my Vaquero, turn it to all metal and when that threshold slightly changes I kick the snow out of the way, dig down and hope I find something cool.
Nothing great so far, mostly trash, but I have found a few coins on my 3 snow hunts so far.
If I find one coin it is a successful hunt.

Hey, at least I am digging...something!

We are due for a nice warm-up into the 50's and 60's by the end of this week and when all this snow melts it is game on!

The snow may melt, but your ground will still be frozen until sometime in May :laughing7:

I am waiting for the thaw here in central Iowa, we got some more flurries last night but nothing big.

Ah yes, Cabin Fever, nothing that 3 weeks in the Fla. Keys won't cure.

I leave next Tuesday!

Oh yes, as I wait out yet another snowstorm. Pulled out my water and land hunting gear and checked it out for tears and needed repairs, researched online a new and better digger, compared my different finds pouches and tossed some of the ones I never used, and updated the binder I keep in the car of maps to places I want to hunt. Not a chance of hunting outdoors for at least another month, but I will be so ready!

I tried to go out detecting and this is what happened...

This morning I shot six holes in my freezer. / I think I got cabin fever. / Somebody sound the alarm.

Seeing as how cabin fever has struck which can mean internet shopping, can anyone recommend a small lightweight shovel so I can stand and dig, even if bent over a bit? I broke the plateau in my knee and it healed pretty good but getting up is a bit tricky.

I still have About 6-12 inches in my back 40! Come on Spring!

Some day this madness is going to end and I can get out and do some diggin. . . .

Hi Takelababy: I bought a Gardening shovel with short handle and blade about 5" wide and 14" long // I think its called a Transplanter ?? used my 4" grinder to cut off about 6" of the blade to 8 '' --I think it will be just the ticket // And yes cabin fever is a B--ch These guys that are digging 15-30 targets a day are Killing Me///// Perry

hey all, we have'nt got much snow left in SYRACUSE,ny. but it's to cold ,an the ground is froze. when we had warm day's ,say in the upper 40's to 50. I went out an the ground was still froze, so I marked ,used stones about the size of a soft ball, an made a map of what the ICON'S showed, an where they are. for all of us who can't stand the winter. an if your new to hobby, or young. and you want, no NEED to see GREAT metal detecting show's .NOT digger's or the other bad one's !! see how it's REALY DONE. GO TO google youyube.TREASURE HUNTING AMERICA. this was a great tv show. start with the low'est EPISODE number, an go from there ! im 60 an i still love this show ! BEST DAM TREASURE HUNTING SHOW EVER PUT ON TV. CYA !!!

Here is the one I use. The shovel is 4 inches wide, 6'deep. Total length about 18 inches and pretty light weight, but very very strong.

This is what it looks like at my house earlier tonight. I got a load of logs delivered on Sunday, so here is a picture of the logs and why I need so much firewood.

I wont be metal detecting until June at this rate:icon_scratch:
