How many Hours do you hunt?

I have some sites I go detect on my lunch break that's very close to my work. I usually spend an hour each day I go( 3-4 times a week)

If I get to go hunting with friends on a day off to certain other sites I will usually go for about 6-8 hrs

That's Nice!, You get out there a lot.

When you got out and actually start Metal Detecting, how long, on average, do you spend swinging your detector?
As long as I can get away with, which usually isn't all that long. An hour or two is typical. Four or five on occasion.

During the pandemic me and a buddy who got temporary laid off from his job were out 5 or 6 days a week for 6 hours a day. Now that everything is back to normal, when we go diggin’ it’s usually 4 or 5 hours once or twice a week but we do go on road trips and in that case it’s an easy 8 or 10 hour day depending on daylight.

Years ago on the detecting tours to Britain it was a 10 hrs a day for 6.5-13.5 days.
(That was tiring)
Now if it's a full day I expect 8-10hrs
The averages in spring/fall it's one full day a week.
2 days of 2-3 hrs
Then a few 1 hr 🤫 hunts I sneak in without the Mrs knowing.🤣

for me the time spent is dependent on how I'm doing. A couple hours of pull tabs and shot gun shell headstamps is enough fun for one day. If my finds are good I could go 4 hrs. When I first started detecting the civil war finds were so plentiful a return to the truck was needed to empty my pouch and I'd hunt 8-10 hrs . even though the detector was almost 3lbs heavier it was doable. I was a young and stronger man 35 years ago.

I am only good for 2.5 to 3.5 hours now, but I used to hunt weekday evening for 2-3 hours until the time change, then I could only hunt weekends. Most weekends I swung the coil 8-10 hours, rain or shine from late February until the ground froze in mid January.

At my age - one! But I found a section to a huge crotal bell today in that one hour.

Hunt 3 -5 days a week
Average about 2 hours a hunt
When the hot dry weather hits I mainly beach deyect
