After seeing all the broken glass recovered by detectorists and jagged metal I would think it is very dangerous to walk on a lot of the beaches

I have the dive boots but generally use the heavier flip flop style.
Thanks rusty I appreciate your replys. All i was trying to do was make a lot of people that do not hunt much need tol know the dangers on the beaches

I use crocks in warm weather and dive boots in winter, I never detect barefoot.

I go barefoot when I can....treasure coast is nice for it !!
Seen too many broken bottles, medical waste, knives, and needles to do it barefoot.

water shoes in wet sand, water or sneakers on dry sand

The reason i started this post is to make others aware of all the trash and broken glass in the sand both on the land and in the water. I did not want to see or hear about anyone getting inured from the trash.

HAS ANYONE EVER BEEN INJURED BY HIDDEN TRASH SUCH AS BROKEN GLASS OR METAL STRIPS

The northern gulf coast beaches have sand that is so soft it’s like walking on pillows unless it gets too hot. So, during the height and heat of summer if you don’t wear water shoes or some other type of protection, blistering the bottoms of your feet is a very real possibility.

well I surf fished in the Fall for decades for striped bass and slammer blues. We were using 8/0 hooks, silver gator spoons or hopkins lures with treble hooks. Sometimes you may lose one in the sand, in the surf, in a jetty. Large fish can snap the line and then shake out the lure. It could end up in shallow water and be brought back in on beach wet sand. If you are hunting where guys are fishing all the time in the Fall or Spring - I'd say beware of these types of possible finds. I was always wearing hip boots or chest waders with steel shank boots. But I have dug rusted treble hook lures in wet sand!

You know when i started this post i WAS JUST TRYING to tell the inexperienced detectorist's that there was a lot of danger in the sand on the beaches
