How Can We Tell If This Is Authentic?

Earlier today I bought an entire display cabinet and its contents at an antique mall ($300). One of the vendors passed away and the family is stacking it deep and selling it cheap. This point was in the case and she had it marked $80 and that was on sale 😆 . All of the items she had were marked way too high. I normally don't even try to figure out whats authentic when I'm wondering yard sales, flea markets etc. but since this was in the case I thought I would post it and see what y'all thought about it. One side has glue on it like it had been glued into a display at one time. If it is genuine, would this be a re-worked point? made into a drill?

Looks authentic, yes it is a drill, reworked from a broken point.

That is a reworked point into a drill. This is my opinion and hopefully I'm wrong but my 1st impression is that it doesn't look right. Maybe someone modern-day rechipped it that way. The whole thing could be a modern reproduction.

I like it. Good patina on it and the patina is the same on the top edges as the rest of the point. Also appears to be some surface wear on the tip. Good acquisition.

I believe it is authentic as well. It is a little unusual looking drill wise but the ancient maker had a purpose in mind for it.

Its a stone point that was broken and made into a drill--they never threw anything away

Looks like a point from the northern states. There is a member named Up North that has found one very similar to it. I can’t remember the type. Looks good from here maybe offer half and see what they say.

Seems like a Snyder’s point… into a drill as many have said… also I don’t buy and sell points but I’d say her 80 was still steep I’d be thinking 20-40 for what it’s worth

Yep but he bought the case and everything in it for 300. The case is worth that without contents. Good acquisition.

Yes. I got the whole glass case. When I was packing up the contents to move it I found the point.

Yes, she was very high on all of her prices. Everything in the case was marked too high. We figured out that if we took 80% off of all her prices it brought them down to current market value. 😆

Definitely a good price for the case I was just commenting on what you said about her saying 80$ for the point and claiming it was a discount, but I guess if you aren’t in a hurry to move it maybe you can slap a high price and see if anyone bites
