If you were born after the 1950's, don't bother reading these...

"Quick, Henry! The Flit!"

"S. S. S. Yes, yes, yes!"

"You'll wonder where the yellow went..."

"To look sharp, and feel sharp, too..."

"What'll you have? Pabst Blue Ribbon!"

"Call for Philip Morris!"

"You like it! It likes you!"

"Ask the man who owns one."

"Do you drag through day after weary day?"

"When it rains, it pours!"

"Hasn't scratched yet."

"Outstanding— and they are mild."

"You can trust your car to the man who wears the star."

"Good to the last drop."

And here are a couple just for Arkies and Okies:

"Thank you! Here's your change!"

"Cain's dated coffee... fresh today!"

Let's see, I was born in 1977, but PBK's so good at answers I'll try my hand on these. No internet searching, either!

"Quick, Henry! The Flit!" - Isn't this a bug-bomb?

"S. S. S. Yes, yes, yes!" - not a clue

"You'll wonder where the yellow went..." - Hmmm....laundry detergent.

"To look sharp, and feel sharp, too..." - A razor....Gillette?

"What'll you have? Pabst Blue Ribbon!" - beer :)

"Call for Philip Morris!" - smokes :) (Marlboro?)

"You like it! It likes you!" - not a clue...

"Ask the man who owns one." - Is it Dodge?

"Do you drag through day after weary day?" - mmmmm, no idea.

"When it rains, it pours!" - Morton's Salt

"Hasn't scratched yet." - Head and Shoulders?

"Outstanding— and they are mild." - Carlton Cigarettes?

"You can trust your car to the man who wears the star." - Texaco

"Good to the last drop." - Maxwell House

And here are a couple just for Arkies and Okies:

"Thank you! Here's your change!" - I got nothing....

"Cain's dated coffee... fresh today!" - Cain's Coffee? ;)

I don't remember any of these commercials, but I can remember my Dad always singing some sort of jingles, so I asked him today if he could remember one to tell me so's I could post it on here. ;) The first one he thought of was for Halo shampoo. I found a site that has it! Yea! I was happy to find it and will be showing it to him...bet that will bring back some memories! It's the 'Halo Shampoo #2' down the list five and on the right. It is neat to hear my Dad recall memories. :)

Then the second one he remembered was for Frosty Morn Sausage. I thought this one was funny! :D

Sing it over and over again
Frosty Morn
Sing it over and you will sing it over again
The height of a pigs ambition
From the day he is born
Is to grow up and be good enough
To be a Frosty Morn.

:D
I ain't ever heard of Frosty Morn sausage till today.

You all are bringing back the memories. I can remember watching Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and liking the commercials in between, One I remember is the Santa (I think) on the electric shaver (Remington?)

Here's another I thought of:
"Dishwashing liquid?" "It's Polmolive"

"Hasn't scratched yet." - Head and Shoulders? I think it's Comet.

Cheryl

Cheryl, I believe Santa was on the triple rotary head of a Norelco shaver.

The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet:

Don't wait to be told, You need Palmolive Gold. (Was a bar soap)

"Ajax Laundry Detergent is stronger than dirt."

"Ajax liquid cleans like a white tornado!"

And who can forget that manicurist-"Madge" who tells her cilents "You're soaking in it." in reference to Palmolive Dishwashing Liquid.
"It softens hands while you do the dishes."

Thanks Stoney, you have a good memory.

Don't rub it in, young fella!

"S. S. S. Yes, yes, yes!" - not a clue
S.S.S. tonic

"You'll wonder where the yellow went..." - Hmmm....laundry detergent.
Pepsodent toothpaste. There was a "complete the jingle" contest.

"Call for Philip Morris!" - smokes :) (Marlboro?)
Cigarettes, yes... but Philip Morris was the brand. The slogan was the cry of Johnny the Bellhop.

"You like it! It likes you!" - not a clue...
7-Up soft drink.

"Ask the man who owns one." - Is it Dodge?
Good guess. Actually, it was Packard.

"Do you drag through day after weary day?" - mmmmm, no idea.
Geritol tonic

"When it rains, it pours!" - Morton's Salt
"Hasn't scratched yet." - Head and Shoulders?
I like your answer better, but in fact it was Bon Ami cleanser. Logo was a just-hatched chick.

"Outstanding— and they are mild." - Carlton Cigarettes?
Again, you're right about the cigarettes... but the brand was Pall Mall.

"Thank you! Here's your change!" - I got nothing....
As I said, this one was really just for Arkies and Okies. It was the radio slogan of Oklahoma Tire & Supply Company, a retail automotive, hardware, and appliance chain which also specialized in toys at Christmastime.

The Cain's coffee jingle wasn't for ID... just nostalgia. ;)

Yep, good old OTASCO. They were kind of the upgraded mercantile stores--everything to see, wear, and look at. Tires, batteries, auto supplies, tools, hardware, appliances, toys, hunting clothing, guns, ammo, knives, etc.

Hmmm. Ours never had clothing, except maybe some hunting gear. Plenty of the other stuff, though.. It was great hangout for a kid: toys, guns, knives, dangerous tools... and ahhhhhh!, the smell of rows and rows of new tires!

Speaking of Okie-Arkie favorites, how about, "When you buy Griffin's, you know you've bought the best!" Strawberry preserves that would make Smuckers hang their smucks in shame, and a thick waffle syrup utterly beyond praise, vastly surpassing all other brands and blends in the known and presumed universe. Despite the "waffle" name, we always had it on hotcakes. (Some people call them pancakes, not knowing any better.) They still make it, though it's probably a pale imitation of the full-strength original sold in big glass jugs and also in cans. Either way, it's off limits to me now! :P

BTW, OTASCO was where my 1st bicycle came from. As for Griffins, the jars made great drinking glasses. I believe my grandmother had a matching set of 37. LOL But she still used the Mason jars with zinc lids to bring fresh cold lemonade out to the hay and wheat fields. Oh the memories!

Remember the Cain's tea giveaway glasses? Tapered emerald-green with a clear base. I think collectors call them "boopie" glasses. CTG.JPGThey were a bit thin and prone to breaking. I remember lining up a couple of them, along with some scrounged bottles and jars, atop an old wooden fence in our backyard and having at them with a hand-me-down Red Ryder BB carbine— supposedly illegal to shoot in town, and therefore wielded relentlessly at every opportunity!

Sorry, Cheryl— didn't mean to hijack your thread about slogans. I'll hush now! ::)

No problem. Carry on. I don't mind one bit.

Here's another couple jingles.

"It's so rich and thick and chocolaty that you can't drink it slow. If it's quick , oh romeo....slurp, that's the saddest sound I know. You can't drink it slow, if it's quick."
Pringles jingle here:
http://www.donandmurph.com/morecommericalspage5

"I'm a Pepper. He's a pepper. She's a pepper.
We're a pepper. Wouldn't you like to be a
Pepper too? Dr. Pepper"

"I drink Dr Pepper and I'm Proud. I'm Part of an
Original Crowd"
"Be A Pepper, Drink Dr Pepper."
