Me and my buddy found a old property with a couple homes on it...including my first CW bullet with bite marks... Any info?

When soldiers were getting a limb cut off they would more of less bite down on leather or something in that nature. Biting bullets would have been after they got amputated or during treatments after amputation.. I highly doubt they were biting down on bullets while getting amputated.

Either way its super crazy... :-)

We got it so made in the 21st century. lot of those old abandon homes are abandon because the families got sick they would all catch something @ the same time in the early 20th or late 19th century and some died or got so ill and they just decided not to go back to the property. It is somewhat common for that too happen I have always wondered why in certain spots there are so many abandon homes from back then and have researched and found out that was a reason sometimes.

Also this may sound crazy and dangerous but sometimes if you go into a old building or barn like that you can find good relics, i do this a lot, i will go into old barns or old houses like this and becareful and come out with all sorts of goodies sometimes!

I know I've done it fire years

Hope you hit that spot good again, i think there is something very good on that property.

Congratulations on your first Cw bullet.Hope you find bunches looks like a good site. Has to be a privy and cellar hole somewhere. Good luck!

I was told that the soldiers would bite bullets sometimes to give it a tumbling effect so that when it made impact it would do more damage. May be a possibility, I dunno lol just what I was told
Funny that you mention that. Years ago, when I was a youngster, we hunted deer etc with an old shotgun and slugs. For some reason, it was common practice to cut an "X" into the end of the bullet. I think it was supposed to expand more on impact, as if that was necessary with a shotgun slug! Those things pretty much took down anything that got in their way!

Congrats on your first Minnie ball and the old bottle too.

No they were all empty. And falling apart.... what year of nehi?

Hello bountyhunter,

It's not a Nehi. The iconic Nehi had a herringbone, or rope design. No daisies, or woven panels.

For the life of me, I cannot decipher the base embossing. What does that say?

It does appear to be a late 1920's Deco soda design. Is there anything embossed on the heel?

Sorta reminiscent of this 1926 patent:

Yes I know Google didn't help much... the bottom says Tullahoma Tenn.

Hey bounty hunter,

I still don't know what it is. McDirt, who really knows his Tennessee sodas, doesn't either...

There's gotta be some more glass in the ground at that site, just waiting for you to find it...

its really hard to date the site by looking at it but by the 1900's sawmills were every where and lumber was easy to get even in rural parts of the country and log houses were a poor mans house, so if that farm house is not either post and beam or log then i would guess it is not the original house and there will be a older house on the property, and since there are so many log structures id say there house was log also , so if you can not find a log house there i would try to look for a old foundation to where the house was at. i dissmantled and restored antique log houses for almost 15 years and love to see the pictures you have up there, it brings back memories.
