HOT ROCK???

I'm still considered new to this addiction and amwondering what it means when my MXT says "hot rock" this has probably been covered but I haven't seen it. any help please?

a hot rock is a rock that has such high mineral content or metal flecks that your detector will think it is a good target. Frequently quartz is a big offender because it contains various metals and sometimes even gold and silver flecks. And 'No' I do not dig hot rocks if I can help it.

I've found a few, about pea-sized that look like cinders.

very good explanations have been posted above. Just to say if you are having a lot of problems with them ask here just state the terrain type you are wanting to search as I understand it certain models have the ability to ignore all but the largest hotrocks I hope this helps
