July 4th is an anniversary for me.
39 years of sobriety.

So it means a play day.

Not many choices this time of the year.
Most fields that have hay and not cut.
(nearly 7" of rain in June)
All the cropped lands are in, and growing.
So with temps @88F feeling like 99F it was challenging.
Decided on a permission that has provided lots of stuff over the past decade.
There was a cellar hole in the bush that I have basically cleaned out.
Now it was a great time to test out a new setting on the Deus ll. The Tekkna program with zero Reactivity.
The last 2 trips to this site was a zilch for recoveries.
Have hit this cellar hole with the Minelabs, Deus l & ll many times.

The finds were deep, 6-8 inches for the cuffbuttons.

The Ships Token was a crazy 14-15".

The photo shows the shovel in the hole, the blade is 11".

It seems the rubble stone foundation slide/fell as most recoveries were digging out 3-5 rocks making the recoveries slow and hard.
It seems to be a bumper crop this year for mosquitoes.

Look down I would estimate 50 flying around me.

Stop, dig, get up, that count had gone up to 200.

I wore a bug suit covering the upper body, the cuffs over the long cuffed leather gloves.
Crawling around under the cedar branches on a 25-33 degree angle slope.
Yes rewarded with a 1783 Hibernia

Got a nice Dixon & Smith pewter spoon.
Came out with a tooth.😁
Big pieces if bronze casting waste.
Took 20 minutes of root/rock digging.
The 1804 Half Cent was in the wet below the cellar.
I think there was a forage/kiln set up.

Well done! That Half Cent has got to be a rare coin.
How about the snakes where you are?
We have no poisonous snakes.
I'm sure there were a few eyes looking at me, but they're all friendly.

That's a good hunt any day, but finds like that in area you've already "cleaned out" is pretty fantastic, IMO.

And major congrats on your anniversary!

Wow ... you sure paid your dues on that hunt - congrats on the FANTASTIC finds ! :icon_thumright:
It was a tad challenging.
The body wasn't very happy last night.
Suck it up buddy.🤣

Good day for sure!

Out of curiosity what state are you in with no poisonous snakes?
I'm 30 miles NE of Kingston Ontario.

None around this area.

Though Ontario has the Massasauga Rattlesnake.

Cool token.👍
😁 I had a pair of boots that the side opened up like that. Sewed up with 12lb fishing braid. Fixed.
