O.K., not exactly a banner post folks, but it may be fun.
Pictured are a few oddball horseshoes I've dug. The one with the "tab" on the bottom I dug some time ago. The strange looking angled one I dug about a week ago.
Which started me thinking....... :icon_scratch:........... :dontknow:............... :sign13:....

What other odd ball horseshoes have some of you relic hunters dug up????
Post them here for all to see,
Thanks,
MM

Nice horseshoes. Maybe they will bring you good luck. I can't post the oddball I got. He gets mad when I post his picture. ;D You know who I am talking about.

Those are some wild shoes Doug. I wish I had some to share but all mine look like, well, like horse shoes. :D

I think you got everyone beat on this one.

RPG,
I hope someone has some odd shoes out there. I'm waiting for the Iron Brigade members to post a few. Heck, I'll even take mule shoes. ;D

HAHAHAHAHA! :laughing7:

Yeah...all's I find around here are mule shoes...and they've all been pretty normal looking. :tongue3:

Those are neat, MM.

Here is one for you MM. Oh I'm sorry, you said odd "horseshoes" not horses... Sorry. The one in your pic on the right was specially made to compensate for abnormal hoof wear by a blacksmith. HH.

Great shot of Dman there. :icon_thumleft:

Dman,
Your turn to post a picture of Q now riding a mule. :laughing9:

My hunting partner found one the end of this season made of copper . Looked like it was even to small for a pony .

This is my share of odd horseshoes. I find dozens of normal shoes that I leave in the woods. I only bring out these corrective shoes.

I believe these are for Horses with medical conditions, ones with particular problems with their hooves/feet.

oxen shoes drive some folks near mad trying to figger out what kinda horse they "fit" on :D

gypsy is the queen of rusty stuff ( aka as relics) --- and horse shoes

Sometimes these shoes are referred to as bar shoes.

Lumbercamp,
You just took home the prize for oddities. :icon_thumleft: :hello2: Those are some unusual shoes for sure. Never saw anything like it. :dontknow: Thanks for posting those.

The one on the left may be for giving a horse extra traction in hill country, the one on the right may be for a horse with a split or broken hoof. Just my opinion :icon_pirat:

Look at these:

Interesting pair of shoes and cool find. SkyPirate and I spent 5 hours detecting this past weekend in the woods which used to be tobacco fields years ago. Didn't even find a shoe, just junk! Always look forward to reading your post, you always find the interesting stuff.

Thanks Ron.
Don't lose hope. I too have been to spots like that. Just keep plugging away at different locations and you'll hit a good one eventually. I would suggest taking a ride out in the country to locate some potential spots and knock on some doors. There are a ton of places out there and I find new ones all the time. Good luck,
Doug
