No... this was found In central Ky... According to all the history Ibe read... Washington never made it to Ky before he died...but did purchase some 5000 acres in what is now Grayson county
By Jove, this could be it. Excellent pull. The Patt has just the right amount of smudges after it for this to fit. Pattison The faint E is an I?View attachment 1742814
This might answer some questions.... obviously there is more to the story... but youll get the point
i thought if the buckle did belong to Washington, there maybe a receipt
or an order in his papers, maybe the Pattison name is there.
reading around there were a lot of metal smiths and shoemakers in va.
that type of buckle was popular from late 1770s- early 1790s

Pattison was from Berlin Conn....and made supplies for Washingtons army..... it may have been made as a tribute piece... Im sure there is no paper trail as if it was made for GW it would have probably been a gift
Looks like a broken ankle, waiting to happenI agree it is likely a maker's mark but, for the record, PATTENS were a thing in the 18th C.
They were more or less stilts or thick soles attached to your shoes to keep them out of the mud in the streets or, as pictured below, off the wet floor.
