We found this stone (stretch possible relic) in the surf of Eastern NC Neuse River.
Backstory: There is a nominal amount of blue clay at the location. My daughters used to love mixing what they called “Monster Goo”, a mix of the blue clay and river sand surf. This concretion however seems to be fully native blue clay (but very old in appearance).
Has anyone seen anything like this? I’m wondering if it is a marker of some sort? I understand that it could totally be Mother Nature’s work. I don’t own a metal detector, but want to find someone who does. Could there be some metallic mystery hidden deep inside this natural or hand made piece? Native American, Colonial American, or Mother Nature?
