I just completed my homemade 2 1/2 inch dredge. I floated it in the lake to find out what the displacement was and it was almost perfect. The front was about 5 to 10 lbs light but with the water in the sluice, it should weight the front end down some. If not, I will have to add some weight to the front (the neat thing is that you just add some water balast to the front tanks). Other than that, it was perfect and the front of the sluice was about 4 inches above the water.

Arizonaames, do you happen to have the plans for that, or did you buy them somewhere? My dad is looking to build a dredge and that is pretty much like what he wants to build, although he's looking at building a 2 inch ones. Still, the plans from the one you built could be easily adapted to build something slightly smaller. That's a neat looking outfit by the way.

What size or brand name is the motor and pump.
Looks like a standard 2-3 inch clear water pump.

@okbasspro.
Is your pump and motor a stock 2-3 inch clear water pump like Harbour freight.

The pump is a 2.5hp honda clone with a 2" trash pump I got on eBay. It will run the 2.5 jet great if I change to suction nozzle it's not enough pump lots of plugs.
