HOLY CRAP...thought it was CLAD but it WASN'T...and it was an HONEST 11" DEEEEEP

UPDATE ABOUT MY SUNRAY COILS FIELD TESTS IN WESTERN & EASTERN TREASURES MAGAZINE: I wanted to let some of you know who were interested...that I was just informed my field test reports will now be in the May and June issues...which will be available in March and April. This is TWO MONTHS LATER than I was originally told.

The first issue will contain the X-5 field test and the second issue will contain the X-12 field test.

I was expecting the first test (X-5 coil),...to be coming out in less than a week (March issue)..then the X-12 coil test the month after...but again....the release date of each coil test is going to be two months later as stated.

My hunting buddy "SwampThing" wanted to go hunting for a while today (wednesday 1/27)

He likes using my coils...so I get to use HIS E-Trac when he does. :tongue3:
Pretty fair swap wouldn't you say. ;D

Anyway I am VERY impressed with his E-Trac and although I love my explorer and it is my #1 machine...I like to use his E-Trac at different sites just as I use different coils in different situations.

We hunted a park where I just found an 1892-O Barber quarter 3 days ago.
Today though I hunted in a very sandy area and I assure you it has been thoroughly explored for years...and E-Tracked heavily the last 2 years. :icon_scratch:

Anyone who says the E-Trac won't hit deep coins is :tongue3:

Anyone who says the E-Trac is hard to learn is :tongue3:

Anyone who says it is not a turn on and go machine is...well...you get the picture.

These coins are from 3 hours of me hunting with "Heavy D's" E-Trac and they were very deep.

I dug to China for the quarter and when it came out of the crusty, muddy sand I said "NO freakin' way a clad quarter should be that deep. ???
Actually my words were a little more harsh...but you get the picture. ;D

In case you are wondering...YES I was talking to myself. ;D :laughing9:

It was crusted with sand and tarnished dark black...and I did not even know it was silver until I went to the car to thaw out my hands. Then I thought I noticed a little shiny rim peeking through. :headbang:

2 of the wheaties were a measured 10" deep...and the other 3 were all at 9" deep.

The black quarter was an HONEST and measured 11" deep. :hello2:

"Heavy D" found 2 wheaties and broke out of the silver slump with a deep Roosey. He was using my 15" WOT coil and my SE. for the wheaties...and found the deep merc using the Sunray X-12 on my SE.

He has an EX2...an SE...and the E-Trac...yet not only does he rarely use his E-Trac...he also chooses to use MY SE....and MY coils because he thinks my coils and machines are lucky :icon_thumleft:...and his are cursed ;D :laughing9:

Man what a fun few hours.

The E-trac is a good machine as is the Explorer SE
and the Explorer XS. Glad you have the opportunity
to play with all of them and find good silvers. If you
HAD to make a choice, which one would you use as your
ONLY machine? Just curoius.........and why that choice?
Congrats on some deep silver finds.....Gold Nuggets :hello:
Hi GN. The explorer SE is my #1 machine and that won't change. I do plan on using the E-trac as an additional weapon though... just as I do various coils. I think it has great potential for me :icon_thumleft:

Well Bryce, good things come to those who wait. I am sure the field test reports will be great. Indeed you have snagged another "deepy". But then again, would I expect anything less. I don't think so. Nice finds, nice post. Always enjoy your posts Bryce. That darn white stuff is hampering my time in the field. Good luck on the next hunt, but I don't think you will need it my friend!! ;D jgas
Thanks J. Yep...it's in the teens here now ???
At least I had a little more fun before the nasty weather hit though.
Take care my friend

Bryce Nice find congrats I started using Minelabs in the early 90's with the sov XS it was a killer on deep coins My first Explorer was an XS I wanted to warp it around a tree I sold it went back to the Sov Later got a brand new EXP XS found 17 mercs in 1 day was sold on it Then I up grader to the EXP2 then the SE and finally the E-Trac I think the SE Is a killer MD I have one :icon_pirat: The ET is my MD of choice But I compare the 2 to a wild mustang and a tame one The SE in Manual sens has killer depth were as the ET in Auto gets out of a null quick allow you to find those targets that others have missed with great depth I have dug 12" targets with both detectors either way you slice it you cant go wrong HH RonC

Thanks Ron. I agree with you 100%...the E-Trac is very smooth...where the SE is just raw power. As for the nulling...I feel I am at my best with the SE when hunting in nulls...so the E-Trac will be getting some use from me...because I can hunt in manual and still hit coins while nulling with it.

He's not the only one who thinks that... :)

WTG on the deep silver, Bryce!!!

Every once in a while I'll get some black silver up here. It's usually from low areas that flood or stays wet a long time. I don't know if its a chemical reaction from something in the dirt, or from fertilizer or mosquito abatement spray. Who cares though? It's still a silver!

Thanks Neil ;D Must have been a ton of water soaked up in this deep sand over the years.

Re: HOLY CRAP...thought it was CLAD but it WASN'T...and it was an HONEST 11" DEEEEEP

Bryce, that as usual is some impressive depth. The deepest coin i can confirm is a quarter that was laying flat at 7 inches with a Garrett GTI 2500. I found a pair of colonial cuff links at about 7 inches with my favorite machine, the ole trusty XLT. I know a guy that has been hunting this area for 35 years and now uses a Explorer, not sure which one and he has never found a coin deeper than 7 inches. It may have something to do with our ground, i don't know. I have another buddy that hunts with a Nautilus and i saw him dig a small paper Spanish coin the size of a dime at around 10" in a plowed field that me and my partner had been over 100 times. Any way my question is have you ever hunted with a Nautilus or hunted with somebody using one and which would win out on a coin on depth? Thanks, Deno.

Thanks Deno.
I have not used a nautilus and don't know anyone who has...but the Minelabs find their share of coins.

Coins in the 8" to 9" range are not easy...but they pop up quite often.

Bryce,
I am drooling again! There you go snaggin' those deepies! Nicely done!
I've been waiting for someone to give a good comparison between the SE and the ETrac. I KNOW how good you are, so it means a ton coming from you.

Hey, I really miss swinging a coil! Do you know if Lesche has come out with a Jackhammer yet?

Best of Luck!
Mark

Thanks my friend.

I have been carrying the Lesche pic ax with me to use where digging nasty holes is okay. ;D I wouldn't want to do it anywhere except field sites though. No way in a park because I always try my best to leave the site better than it was when I got there.

I have a couple field sites where the owner says I can "hack away" :icon_thumleft:

Take care brother

I have not doubt of those depths. Im here in Fl and have dug several of those with the SE here in the sand.... that black is almost impossible to get off. Ive gotten some barbers here on a beach that was really clean and has been hunted a lot. weak but repeated signals.... I love this sandy soil. Such a change from Ind. soil makes a big difference with SEF.
