HOLY CRAP...thought it was CLAD but it WASN'T...and it was an HONEST 11" DEEEEEP

UPDATE ABOUT MY SUNRAY COILS FIELD TESTS IN WESTERN & EASTERN TREASURES MAGAZINE: I wanted to let some of you know who were interested...that I was just informed my field test reports will now be in the May and June issues...which will be available in March and April. This is TWO MONTHS LATER than I was originally told.

The first issue will contain the X-5 field test and the second issue will contain the X-12 field test.

I was expecting the first test (X-5 coil),...to be coming out in less than a week (March issue)..then the X-12 coil test the month after...but again....the release date of each coil test is going to be two months later as stated.

My hunting buddy "SwampThing" wanted to go hunting for a while today (wednesday 1/27)

He likes using my coils...so I get to use HIS E-Trac when he does. :tongue3:
Pretty fair swap wouldn't you say. ;D

Anyway I am VERY impressed with his E-Trac and although I love my explorer and it is my #1 machine...I like to use his E-Trac at different sites just as I use different coils in different situations.

We hunted a park where I just found an 1892-O Barber quarter 3 days ago.
Today though I hunted in a very sandy area and I assure you it has been thoroughly explored for years...and E-Tracked heavily the last 2 years. :icon_scratch:

Anyone who says the E-Trac won't hit deep coins is :tongue3:

Anyone who says the E-Trac is hard to learn is :tongue3:

Anyone who says it is not a turn on and go machine is...well...you get the picture.

These coins are from 3 hours of me hunting with "Heavy D's" E-Trac and they were very deep.

I dug to China for the quarter and when it came out of the crusty, muddy sand I said "NO freakin' way a clad quarter should be that deep. ???
Actually my words were a little more harsh...but you get the picture. ;D

In case you are wondering...YES I was talking to myself. ;D :laughing9:

It was crusted with sand and tarnished dark black...and I did not even know it was silver until I went to the car to thaw out my hands. Then I thought I noticed a little shiny rim peeking through. :headbang:

2 of the wheaties were a measured 10" deep...and the other 3 were all at 9" deep.

The black quarter was an HONEST and measured 11" deep. :hello2:

"Heavy D" found 2 wheaties and broke out of the silver slump with a deep Roosey. He was using my 15" WOT coil and my SE. for the wheaties...and found the deep merc using the Sunray X-12 on my SE.

He has an EX2...an SE...and the E-Trac...yet not only does he rarely use his E-Trac...he also chooses to use MY SE....and MY coils because he thinks my coils and machines are lucky :icon_thumleft:...and his are cursed ;D :laughing9:

Man what a fun few hours.

Thanks Jim. I think it must have sat there for all these years in water logged ground.

Re: HOLY CRAP...thought it was CLAD but it WASN'T...and it was an HONEST 11" DEEEEEP

I just got an Explorer XS with the Sunray X-1 probe & X-12 coil and a bunch of other accessories last weekend... but since I've been working 12 hours every day this week, I've been reading my Sabisch book & user manual in my free time and waiting patiently for the weekend! Hopefully with some practice I can start pulling some silver or gold from around here.
Thanks so much for sharing your finds!! It's encouraging! :)

WOW ~ that is great man! You are the MASTER!!

Funny thing about the Minelab SE and eTrac . . . . a few years ago my good buddy Ron let me use his SE . . . . I could NOT understand that thing back then! I was so use to my White's XLT ~ the Minelabs worked so differently! I didn't like the SE at first.

Then Ron got the eTrac . . . . he was nice and let me use it, and I loved it! The first time I used it I found a War nickel, Buffalo nickel, Merc dime, and a Barber Half dollar! Ron made me give it back to him, and then let me use the SE again. After using the Etrac, the SE made a lot more sense! Then I loved the SE so much that Ron was a nice guy and sold me his SE!

Also, the new PRO coil helped me understand the SE a lot too.

Now I'm a proud Minelab user!

Well Bryce, good things come to those who wait. I am sure the field test reports will be great. Indeed you have snagged another "deepy". But then again, would I expect anything less. I don't think so. Nice finds, nice post. Always enjoy your posts Bryce. That darn white stuff is hampering my time in the field. Good luck on the next hunt, but I don't think you will need it my friend!! ;D jgas

Thanks Brian. That sounds like a GREAT combo so I think you'll be pleased. Just make sure you take your time with it and don't try too much too fast. If you do...you will end up wrapping it around a tree. ;D

Sounds like fun. We are in a deep freeze right now, so no detecting here.

The 11" Silver Quarter - no sweat. Of all the detectors I have had and sold - In my coin garden even if the detector fails at the 7" silver dime they all can hit the 10-11" silver quarter. :icon_pirat:

The E-trac is a good machine as is the Explorer SE
and the Explorer XS. Glad you have the opportunity
to play with all of them and find good silvers. If you
HAD to make a choice, which one would you use as your
ONLY machine? Just curoius.........and why that choice?
Congrats on some deep silver finds.....Gold Nuggets :hello:

Bob...no sweat on the quarter???...then you're a much more talented hunter that I am. At that level the visual ID is usually shaky at best and finding a machine that will hit wheaties AND dimes at the 10" to 11" level... AND the quarters at the 11" 12" level??..there's some sweat there my friend
As for a 7" dime??...if any of my machines won't hit the 9" dime in my test garden...I don't keep 'em. :icon_pirat:
90% of the coins at my pounded sites are in the 8" to 10" depth range.
