My house was built in 1976 so there isn't much old stuff there. The house across the street is the oldest in the neighborhood...it was built in 1938. Yesterday when I get my new MD, I went out back behind that house and found 2 wheat pennies, but couldn't find anything else but junk.

Today I felt a lot more confident with my new F2, so I decided to go back out and sweep every square inch of that back yard. I found 5 nice old wheat pennies and a 1943 silver quarter, all in about an hour! Tomorrow I plan to go back and search the entire front yard and all next to the garage.

Here are some pics.

There is a 1931 and 1938, both in good condition, but I couldn't see the date well through the microscope. You can see it fine without.

The 1928 is remarkable though. Aside from dirt, it's in absolute perfect shape. No scratches or dings that I can see. I'm going to soak it in oil for a while to see if that helps to clean it up a bit.

I feel awesome right now. That quarter was such a cool find. It could have been there for half a century or more, just waiting for me to discover it!

Nice. Looks like you're off to a good start with your new machine. HH

Congrats! I always say the best area to hunt is right outside your own door 8-)

Very great finds, I hope you find more

Awesome! Gotta love the F2. Your microscope absolutely rocks!

Little update, I did the front yard and found some cool things.

There was a clad dime, 4 clad pennies, and 3 wheat pennies (1941, 1953, 1955D in great shape)
The red truck was made in 1939. I think it belonged to the lady's son. I'm gonna take it to him tomorrow. My neighbor who gave me his address says he is 70 years old.
The ring is kinda neat I guess. Not made of anything special.
The bullet looking thing belongs to a torch.

If anyone can figure out what that mangled orange car is, I would be super appreciative. I'd love to know when it was made.
