My thoughts on Bore Hole 10X:
1. Why wasn't the shaft surveyed before the dive? Debris has been falling into it since the 70's. The bottom has to be littered with rocks, bones & corrosion.
2. The dye test did not work. Did anybody ever ask why?
3. Does the water level in the hole change with the tide? Is there even a path to the ocean now? The flood tunnels may have collapsed or otherwise destroyed over the years. I recall mention of dynamiting the beach to destroy the tunnels.
4. Can the hole be pumped dry? What fills it? Seawater? Ground water? Does it come up from the bottom of the bore?
5. Can the sonar survey show side tunnels beyond the steel casing and concrete?
6. Has anybody considered using a robotic camera to explore the 8' or 27" portion of the hole before sending down living breathing assets? Can a camera be used in the 4" hole the brothers drilled earlier?
7. That cage used in 10X is a square (rectangular) peg in a round bore hole. Many of the problems encountered while lowering the divers could have been avoided if they had a round basket with a door. At the very least the divers should have practiced entrance and egress from the basket before the dive.
Some of this rambling is Monday morning quarterbacking and some is common sense. Was a confined space safety specialist consulted? I did not see any gas meters checking for methane, Hydrogen Sulfide or Cyanide gas.
This is why my wife will not watch TV or movies with me anymore. IMHO the island should be viewed as a problem to be solved. Take the drama and hocus pocus out of the mix. Think like an engineer don't dream like a treasure hunter.
I wish only luck and good hunting to the brothers and the rest of the team.
