Doing a little cleaning up around here and found these wrapped in plastic wrap.

Still surviving after all these years.

I wonder how many old timers can't remember EXACTLY what they were doing when this happened.

Boy, I know I do. I was sitting in Math class and the principal came in the door in tesrs.
It was almost five minutes before she could say what had happened.
Then it was chaos.

Hey,

You need to hang on to those....$$ both money and history. I have some from WWI, II Korea and I think VN.....Kennedy assn was one year before I was born so that dates me. Honestly from what I can gather if he had not been shot and robert as well, we would probably have had kennedys in the white house till this day....lol Whether we would have been better off or not is up for grabs.

Interesting stuff there. Thanks for sharing.

Dylan,

In a lifetime I never wish these things on the next Generations.
But you may be right.
There are only a few that when they happen make you so aware of life that you remember every single detail of life as it stands right at that particular moment.

It is like having a hand torn off.
They make an indelible mark on your heart.

BOY! Do I ever remember THAT DAY!

I remember having a nipple in my mouth when I heard the news. I most likely had a full diaper as well!

After all, I was eight months old! :icon_jokercolor: :icon_jokercolor: :icon_jokercolor:

Old Dog,i was in third grade. Our teacher was called out in to the hall and when she came back to her desk she sat down crying when she told us about it...

I was yet to be born then, but my mom loved Kennedy, and she told me about when she found out... I drew this for her when I was in college in 1988.

I was a 9th Grader in H.S.,sitting in the school library, when they made the announcement over the schools intercom system.Everybody was stunned and in disbelief.I was thinking it must be a mistake, but as we all know it was true.

I must have been Ripping the day off school,
All I remember was I know it was on TV & I didn't
give a --- Hey I was 8 - wasn't what I wanted to watch so I headed
out the door.

Cool Finds though.
Probably worth a few $$

I was alway's a fan of the man but was only 2 at the time.....Thank's for sharing Thom!!

I still have a couple of papers from the morning of 09/11/2001.

Not the later specials with headlines of the attack, the last papers BEFORE the attacks.

I'll probably donate them to a journalism school in 50 years :)

I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was in first grade, Farmington Elementary School in West Virginia, Miss Haggerty's class (she was 75 then, never married, very horrible woman, I'm sure she's still teaching somewhere). Teachers were crying, they put us on the bus, sent us home early without an announcement. It had happened just before dismissal for the day. I was living with my grandparents then. Grandad worked midnights, he got up because he knew the coal mine would close for the day. We watched the events on TV and my grandad said to me "Bobby, they are going to tell you your whole life that one man did this, don't ever believe them".

That's a heck of a find, Old Dog. Thanks for sharing.

Good find Old Dog !

Yeah I remember that day, I was in PE at school and they canciled it
and called us all in to hear on the news what happened.
A little over a year1/2 later, I got notice for the draft, so I went down and enlisted in the Navy. And on to Viet Nam.
Good find for history !

I was in class too, but not math class. :'(

It was my oldest boy's(Brian) 2nd birthday. We were in San Diego and I had worked very late and was still sleeping when the wife woke me up with the news.A little later my cousin in Dallas called. He lived in Oakcliff district not far from the theater and he said all hell was breaking out around the movie house.

I was three years old sitting on the floor in my underwear watching all the hoopla on the TV wondering what was going on; I didn't really understand what was going on but somehow I knew it was important. I think it was probably the first time I had heard about someone dieing.
