Found on the beach in Monterey, Ca.. Shaft 1 1/2" long. Unknown metal (pot metal) that is NOT metallic. It looks like a hinge. The only thing that caught My eye was the ornate appearance.

As Monterey has quite an old history being the Capital of Alta California, that could be old and it doesn't look as though that was a leg, it looks more like it was a handle.
