High School Student Disarms Gunman…Gets Suspended?

I know. '43 actually i think i read. I use it on other sites when asking Americans "How did the Nazis win a victory over the pledge of allegiance?"....puzzles them lol.

Try doing that anywhere now though, and then see how far you get claiming it was the Bellany salute!

Dano....I heard on tv the other day that blacks make up about 40% of their kids names when they are born. It's just one of those things. You can take the word "isha" and add whatever you want on the front of it and WALLA, a new name for your kid. :) Nothing against 'em, whatever they want to name their kids is none of my concern.
Bottom line here is, the kid with the gun won't do any time but will eventually end up in prison because he will be allowed to get away with anything he wants to do now. (I guess the gun wasn't an AR15 and I'm sure it can't have possibly been legally owned by him. Apparently banning the ever-so-frightful AR and fingerprinting gun buyers wouldn't have stopped this crime either. Maybe he drank a large, sugary soda and it set him off)

Wow! And this isn't a racist statement...how?

Nothing racist there, there is no derogatory names or statements in his post.

I had a couple black friends who made up their daughters names by combining 2 names...

If he said he knew 2 whites who made up their kids names would you say that was racist... Maybe some would don't know just know I wouldn't.....

it's the difference between school staff & Police.

schools are making their own rules.

Like here last week one of the schools had a minor fight, someone said "clap",
the paranoids google "clap" in order to find a suggestion it means kill,
& all hell breaks loose.
one kid gets expelled for the word "clap" all schools are locked down, Police
surround all the schools,
& when interviewed on tv the Police pretty much say :icon_scratch: much ado about nothing :dontknow:

I say file charges against the school for false reports

Hell, when I was in school, if someone yelled "Clap", you'd get sent to the Public Health Service... picknose.gif

Just stating the salute predates Nazis by over 30 years. the Bellamy salute was first demonstrated on October 12, 1892 according to Bellamy's published instructions for the "National School Celebration of Columbus Day" I imagine the U.S. gave it up at the end of the war becasue it was more associated with Nazi Germany and the ill feelings at the end of the war.....

Wow! Generalized global sweeping statement about "blacks" and you don't find that offensive? "nothing against em" "what they want to name their kids." Whose head is in the sand?

What if it said this instead: I heard on TV the other day that 40% of browns make up their kids names after birth. Its just of those things. Take the name Theresa, add whatever you want in front of it, and WALLA, a new name for your kid. I got nothing against em, whatever they want to name their kids is none of my concern.

ok, mind you my school days were a while back. But if I took an innocent gun away from a malevolent human and I got suspended from school, I would call it a win win situation. to me a suspension would be a reward

Yeh the nazis ruined a lot of things. The swastika had been a good luck symbol among other things for thousands of years. My guess is that the name Adolf declined in popularity quite significantly. And you hardly ever see someone sporting the little "hitler mustache" anymore.

in all honesty, I'd have gone for the complete removal from the School system

Senator Rand Paul reminded me today during his historical filibuster that the Senate begins every morning with a prayer, but you can't pray in schools. Amazing, and things would be way different if the unions ran the senate, too.

credentialed? what does that mean?

It means I've been elected to office by voters and have a piece of paper that says so.

Interesting . . . best of all, the letter at the end of your handle evidently doesn't mean "party affiliation."

Well, as a retired teacher I need to tell you a couple of things. School districts worry about only two (2) things. Looking bad on TV and getting sued. Blame starts at most levels with the Principal. Screw up and embarass your district and it's adios. Cover your butt rules the day. That's what the Principal was doing. The assault without intent was what the district was doing to make sure the parents didn't sue. The district will declare that positive action was taken and they are on top of things. Now, if you doubt me fine, but in 30 years, I saw more than a dozen guns in our high school taken by security police(we had two at every high school campus). I was good friends with one of them and he told me about and showed me on numerous occasions, weapons that he was taking home because no report was going to be made. Afraid of bad publicity, our Principal just told him to take the weapon home and keep his mouth shut. He usually sold them to his friends later. Bad publicity from the media, avoid it like the plague...

I have tried it a couple times, I never kept it for long and I liked to call it the Charlie Chaplin stash but no one of my generation knows who he. Some of my generation is so dumb. Also here in the heartland we still say the pledge of allegence but I have heard it is out of alot of schools now.

My dad is a substitute bus driver and he says he can't break up fights, yell at the kids, or do anything really. My dad doesn't always follow the rules and he tends to just through kids off the bus now who are causing problems. He had to through a couple off yesterday and there parents hate it.

No Cris, it is not a "racist" statement. It is a FACT and, believe it or not, blacks are fully aware of it. To point it out does not upset them, they KNOW it and enjoy it. Did you know that blacks are "usually" darker skinned than whites, Asians and Latinos? Is that a racist statement? Latins are "usually" shorter than whites? Asians "usually" have smaller eyes, Japanese are "usually" shorter than whites and blacks? Blacks are more prone to sickle (sp?) cell? There are more black pro basketball players than Chinese or Greeks? You gotta get out on the streets more and deal with people as a whole person and not a disected experiment. To think what I said would upset a "average" black person is kind of a racist statement itself. You know, you CAN bring up differences between us without anyone going off.

Also Cris, did you know that many Muslim women in Iraq wear burkas. I got nothing against them, whatever they want to wear is none of my concern.
There, I think I've said about the same thing in that statement; is THAT racist or anti-muslim. No, it's actually a fact and guess what, they'll agree!
Just "google" how blacks make up names and you will find a LOT of info on it. I DID NOT make this up. There ARE ign%rant people that will say negative things about it but the blacks, for the most part, will call it cultural.
