I want to the historic district in my town and I saw where they tore down a house so I did some research and it was from 1885 but the house was beautiful no idea why they tore it down. So I brought my orange cones and I wore my reflector vest it?s a snooty part of town so I like looking like I?m an adjuster. With the temperatures hitting 107 today I knew it wouldn?t be a long hunt. I got a 1964 silver Washington a silver ring with a G in the middle, All spoon no silver a marble and a piece of patriotic history that has stumped pretty much everyone in the ?What is it?? section. I only metal detect it for an hour because the heat was unbearable I got a high 34-36 on the 800 and I figured it was a pipe from the house but it was very deep and some of the pipes I had seen warrant that deep so it kept me digging at about 14 inches I got this round brass piece. I saw the shield and started freaking out it has Lady Liberty a shield, stars and a floral design going all around it. Not sure what the back is and I think it?s 1884 with two arrows on each side. AARC Looked at it and gave it a great complement saying ?not everything grabs my attention but this had has my total attention.? So at this point it is still a unknown but we?re working on it. Let me know

Hey I appreciate that E-Trac and man it got the heart pumping when I pulled out the desk and I saw a shield on it I knew it was something but had no idea and I?m glad I didn?t assume that it was just another pipe underground you just never know what you gonna get. It?s special since I went to the 1984 worlds fair and never even know there was one in 1884-5. I love New Orleans history and its relics [emoji631]

You know they may have i took the picture of the house because I had a For Sale sign and a lot of yardage. So i did some research and it was built in 1895. I took the picture of it before I researched and when I came back to get the agents number everything was gone..

Hey crash man it?s strange how things happen. I?m gonna get back in town and I?m really gonna try to pound that site. I only detected it for about a hour and with the humidity and heat and what I found I just wanted to figure out what it was. So hot this summer. As far as where the house went truly I hope it was moved.

crash as you know I?m out of a producing honey hole and it takes every bit of your fiber to walk out your front door in the morning and go try to find something you know what I mean it?s hard I have not Metal Detecting as much this summer that I have I?ve done in the past. Heat stroke is real i?ll go through a gallon of water in an hour and a half and then I have to leave.
 

Nice!! I?ve always said if you have a truck with a flashing light and your wearing an orange vest you can get away with nearly anything.

It is a cool piece... it has that "x factor".

when you see that shield and stars that are so familiar... but in a scene / situation as you know it so "unfamiliar"...

It sorta automatically begs for attention... and is a "curiosity bait" for us fishes to nibble.

And thanks to Mud Hut's ID... after i failed to ID it... we now know what it is.

Now... Keep on digging... and of course... keep on postin em.

You described it perfectly you should see a shield and stars on something like that that you?re mine is telling you it?s not a coin it?s not a belt buckle all the things that ain?t and your mind just travels with wonder I know what and no matter what it is it?s yours. Then you show all your friends on TNet and everybody gets together to celebrate it with you it doesn?t get better than that [emoji631]
