Hello to all my fellow MD'ers. I remember walking the parks with my father when I was a little one; as he was swinging away with his ole' Whites......feels as if it was ages ago. Now I am 32, Recently got a new job, and my managers husband is into metal detecting; and kinda brought back memories of my youth, so decided to purchase one myself. Ordered a Garrett Ace 250 from Kellyco today (Know it is not the "best" out there, but all I could afford at the time....will be saving up for an upgrade with my findings, lol); and should be here within a few days..really looking forward to going out when it comes in. I live in southwestern NJ (Mullica Hill - right smack on the Gloucester County/Salem County border) and am looking to hunt a few friends places (one has an old farm house dating bact to 1830's). also; looking to get down the shore a few times as well......maybe once a month or so. Have a few questions pertaining to beach hunting though..... Are all beaches in area open to metal detectors (mainly Cape May Pt - Atlantic City)?? Any rules or regulations I should know about within any of the shore towns in between...just don't want to assume that all beaches are open and get into trouble if not permitted by city ordinances. Also; wondering if anyone has ever hunted the little beach on the bay side in Somer's Point I used to work for a surveying firm in the area; and seen that place get kinda packed during the summer months.
