Here's another mystery

I found this today in a place where I have
found everything from Civil War mini balls to
Intel computer parts.

There have been some kind of big mechanical
stuff too.

I'm guessing this is around 1900.

The recepticle is for perspective.

Looks like a large nozzle that works kinda like the one on the end of garden hose. Pull or thread outside sleeve back to adjust flow. Does it look like outside moved at one time?

taz, I see where it looks that way but I think usually garden nozzles and fire nozzles are made of brass or they'd rust out pretty quick. Of course, been wrong before.

Just looking at the profile it looks somewhat like a mortar shell used at a fireworks display. But then seeing the other views it doesn't! Beats me! Monty
