Based on style, which I have been accussed of having NONE of, I'm thinking early 20th Century buckle.

It's cool... but I have no real idea... :P

i dont know either but i have 5 or 6 of those that i found in my yard, they all have a different letter on them...i feel like the letters are for the first letter of their name....clean it up a little and see if it doesnt say "silver plate" on one of those little "ears" on the back

Almost looks like one of those string tie pieces. The piece that you would tighten up against the two strings that would hang down. I had to wear one in grade school in the 60's.

my guess is made in the usa probably from the south D (Dixie ) possibly a southern flag faded coloring???
