Here's a break down of my 100 silver coins for 2008

It took me almost 11 full months to hit my goal of 100 silver coins for 2008. Here's the break down:

3 Walking Liberty Half dollars
1 Franklin Half dollar
2 Barber Quarters
5 Standing Liberty quarters
6 Washington Quarters
6 Barber dimes
32 Mercury dimes
41 Rosie dimes
4 silver Foreign coins (2 Canada, Australia, & Venezuala)
_______________________________________________
100 total silver coins

I didn't add War Nickels to this total because they are only 35% silver. I only added the silver foreign coins that were 80% silver or more.

Here's other significant coin finds:

19 War nickels
9 Buffalo nickels
1 V nickel (1887!)
11 Indian Head cents (1880 TO 1908)
516 Wheat Cents

THANKS FOR LOOKING!
Neil

The four silver halves is an impressive figure.

The number of Standing Liberty quarters you found is also amazing. I have about twice that in 17 more years of detecting.

Would you mind posting the year total of the SLQs in this, or another thread, so I may feel sorry for myself while admiring your great successes?

Nice finds!

Unfortunately four of the five SLQ's that I've dug this year are dateless! But the one with a date is a nice one ~ 1918-D in VF!! I dug that one in Corvallis Oregon ~ not too far from Oregon State University.

THANKS KIP!!!

Yeah, it's been a great year! I just wish you were here with me in Oregon to go detecting too!

Someday we'll both be retired and our wives will be doing what ever they like to do and we'll be out there digging treasures!

Re: Here's a break down of my 100 silver coins for 2008

You've done really well this year Neil............I envy you on the big silver! I'm almost at two hundred this year and not ONE silver coin larger than a quarter. Matter of fact, I have not yet found a half period here in NYC. Congrats Neil.

Re: Here's a break down of my 100 silver coins for 2008

Nice job Neil. That is one heck of a count to be proud of. I know that 2009 will be even better for you. Pray for warmth and no snow buddy...Check ya later...jgas

Re: Here's a break down of my 100 silver coins for 2008

A few things that amaze me about your counts, Neil, are the amount of war nickels you have found this year....AMAZING!! Remember, there's only a 1/2 gram difference in silver content between a war nickel and a silver dime.

Also, your 5 SLQ's is pretty amazing compared to your Washington quarter count.

Congrats again!

Thanks man!

That's weird ~ I know you've found a lot of silver this year, but I didn't realize that you haven't dug a half dollar yet! I sure hope you get one SOON!!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

Hi Dan! THANKS MAN!!! It's been a fun year so far! Even if i don't dig anything else this year I'm happy with everything I've found so far.

For some reason I thought I had dug more Washington 25'c this year ~ only six?! Oh well! And 19 War nickels ~ that shocked me too!

Later dude!

You have quite an impressive list of silvers and I am proud to say that I was with you for the majority of your finds. You have taught me a lot and I hope to put the teachings to good use next year.
Congrats on a fine year of detecting. Gold Nuggets :icon_jokercolor:
