Hey B/Mike - thought of you when I found this earlier today in a friends yard with a house from the turn of the century!

It's a 1915 German 1/2 mark silver -

how it got lost here in the good old USA - one can only wonder

Neat! I have an old site that I have found a few old German coins too, and I thought they may have been brought back from the war as souvenirs too.

Yes, how did it get here?

It was about 4 or 5 inches deep -

it sounded off as silver (strong "ding")!

Awesome find LW and very nice condition! Believe it or not, they are not easy to find, I think I have two or three. Any idea if there was a German POW camp around there? Or maybe it is a souveniour. I'll try to post the stats of the coin later, don't have my book handy. HH, Mike
