Here are some relics you don't find everyday.
These are fuse cutouts also known as "suicide boxes". They were used to cut the main power coming into your house around the turn of the century. The white one has a patent date of Jan. 10, 1899 and the brown one's patent date is Aug. 11,1903 and Jan. 16, 1912. The reason they called them suicide boxes is when you put the insert (Which the brown one has) back in to turn the power on some of them would explode.
