Hello, I'm a Newbee here,

I'm hoping that someone here might know what kind of coin, token this is? It's about 16mm in diameter and half the thickness of a dime. It look's like it is copper or bronze and gilted with gold.

At most i can tell the obvious E H monogram. whoever that is? Any help is greatly appreciated.

hi and welcome to the forum, take a piece of paper and place it over the coin then take the edge of a pencil and rub it over the coin and see if any other print can be seen, this may help in identifying
the item.

It looks like an old hammered coin, but possibly a counterfiet. It looks like some loss to the edge of the coin in one place is the reason for the counterfiet comment. If its not counterfiet then definately an old one.

Reminds me of a Coin from the French Colonies. in fact it Could Be a 1767 French Colonies SOU with the E H being a Counterstamp. the RF on this one is a Counterstamp

I'm with Jeff, looks french. Maybe late 1800S. Not sure though. I have a coin early 1900S with the same color and patina. About the size of a quarter or so. It's a franc though. But the color and texture of the coin is what struck me. Don't have any other coins like it composition wise. It's like a bronze over nickel. It pits real bad. And then is like a maroon color under it. What state was it found in. Good luck search the net you should be able to come up with something close.
