See what shining a blacklight does to it? It might be uranium glass? No clue of the maker :dontknow:

Are you toying with us? That is a fantastic vase! Is that a Steuben? Not all Steuben vases have marks. Definitely high end, polished countersunk pontil.

For sure hand blown, and who ever did it had skills. So many glass blowers out there its hard to say when or where it's from with no makers mark. Look carefully at the bottom, the mark can be scribed in and it might be hard to see. Some companies to look into would be blenko and steuben, though it doesn't ring any bells for me within those two companies. Where did you get this glass?

Oh by the way your best resource for getting a positive id on this will be the corning museum of glass. Also if its the real uranium glass that thing is emitting radiation. So keep it away from your sex organs and head.

No, not a joke. I bought two of these at an auction that had a lot of good glassware. A couple was downsizing. When this came up for auction, the husband just shrugged like he didn't know what it was. I bought them thinking they could be worth something. Looked at bottoms and don't see anything that would resemble a maker mark. Thanks for the warning regarding radiation.

Pictures with black light. I don't have a very good light.

It will be hard to attribute this piece to a particular maker. That being said I'd still like to see a better photo in natural lighting. It's hard to tell the true color, finish and translucency of the glass in that lightbox. Is the top opening bigger than the base diameter as it appears?

Yes, top opening is large then base. Here are some additional pictures.

Sorry. I couldn't resist... Nice vase, though.

Okay, it is French green opaline. It may have had gold gilt decorations and/or trimmings on it. Originally it probably sold as a pair. Here is what it could have looked like, similar anyways, (sorry so small)....

Looks like you may be right. Thanks! I do have the other, so it is a pair. Can opaline glass be uranium also?
