Help with dagger

My guess is some form of Japanese Tanto Knife... ? ? ? or the likes ?
I do not know if is a "replica" or not...

Maybe someone will chime in on its authenticity.

Blade looks to be of high-chrome content and engineered for looks rather than to take a fine cutting edge. Interesting looking dagger, but I'd say either a reproduction of something older or a fantasy-style item.

Cheers mate! I respect that.

This comment comes from a long line of comments made about "fire nuggets." I'm sick and tired of it. Actually, I'm not just sick and tired of it. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired about it. If everything I say is doubted despite scientific evidence then I'm gonna start dishing it out as well. NHBenz does not own this forum. I can say what I want and I have the right to defend it. Post scientific proof or move ***** get out the way.

Obviously a reproduction or fantasy type weapon. Check the handle and especially the way the metal sits on it. I seriously doubt 440 steel on something this cheap. Reminds me of United Cutlery. Used to be a knife seller in the stall next to us at the flea market. Many weapons, daggers, swords pocket knives just like this. I used to collect knives, but not of this quality. Just my opinion, but I bet mirage 83,nhbenz and I wouldn't buy it. Obviously just my opinion, but check a museum and you will see what real quality is.

Uh, excuse me "doc", I have not made a single post in any of your threads about fire nuggets, and none of your other threads that I recall. Are you certain you want to publicly and falsely accuse me of that?

No not particularly, I might be confusing you with somebody else. I rescind previous statement. After a while it gets hard to sort out all those who keep telling me I have fire nuggets. I probably over reacted. My bad. My sincerest apologies, it hit a nerve. Nothing to do with you.

Ok, apology accepted, so moving on, This is the sort of item that made me refer to it as a replica: http://m.ebay.com/itm/141658609359?nav=SEARCH
However, it isn't truly the exact design of what I mostly see in a search of Japanese navy daggers, so a "fantasy piece" may be more accurate if the design was changed... Can anyone locate a genuine one of this pattern? I assumed the number to be essentially a stock keeping number, but I can always be wrong.

What's a "fire nugget"? Crispin you are the smartest person on TNet and the best educated. I would bet on that and you have every right to your opinion. What I laugh about are yahoo's(Texas term maybe) like me who argue to the death about something we can't hold, feel, or examine ourselves. Really entertains me. Some of these folks go apes**t(not necessarily a Texas term) when someone disagrees with them. I enjoy your posts, but when you talk that medical stuff, I get lost(my M.A. is in History). Hang in there and keep posting I always learn something. Ok, what's a fire nugget?

Thanks for the support buddy. I don't want to derail this thread. So briefly, and the last in this thread, a "fire nugget" is an Aluminum can melted in a fire. I have a good education, but it only applies to specific things. There are a ton of things I don't know anything about. However, I have been collecting Japanese weapons, so this thread interests me. PM me if you want to talk more about it.

To me it seems like a dress dagger or a parade piece for show for a reproduction there is to much wear in weird spots
