Help with button

need help on the big button i cant find anything like it. If you have any info on-- it i would love to hear about it. both where found on a civil war training camp. the little button is just a regular flat button with a backmark that says "good colour"

Wow, fancy. I'd guess it to be colonial period. Seeing the back may help the experts put a date on it. Is the backmark on the flat button perhaps Gold Colour, rather than Good? It predates the civil war by at least a couple of decades.

Sorry about that. The backmark on the flat button is best colour not good.

Ah, that makes more sense, I just couldn't recall a backmark claiming a button to be of marginal quality.

The back of the big button don't have anything on it. Just a loop that's smashed.
