Help with brass

Hello! I found this near Vicksburg close to Civil War activity. It is brass. Is it anything of significance or scrap?

I'm thinking off of some sort of old farm machinery. Looks like it's meant to turn with something, perhaps a wear plate

Thanks! That's what I was thinking too. Found several civil war relics (buttons, bullets) in that area. Just wanted a second opinion before I throw it in the scrap pile.
