Could anyone please help me ID this detailed button I found in West Germany.

It has a cross at the top and 5 crest in the center. I'm not sure what type of letters those are written around the edge either.

Thanks in advanced for y'alls time and help.

There appears to be lettering around the outside of the button but I can't read it. It is not in English. Is there anything on the back?

Its definitely not English, but it's not German either.

On the back is the reverse of the same impression.

Wow. That is amazing. Now I really want to figure out the history of this button. I just realized today, I have two of these buttons.

The only difference I can see is, on my button, in the center mune has an extra "crest".

Played with the pic a bit to see if I could bring
out the lettering better. Not sure if this is any
help, but here's the results.
