"HELP" Whites Eagle Spectrum, Batteries only last 4-5 hours.....WHY?

I really dont want to send it out to be repaired, it has to be something simple. im buying new batteries every time I go hunting, and then they only last a few hours. Im going to try to clean all the contacts and hope for the best, but if anyone can pinpoint my problem id really appreciate it. it has a battery pack that holds 4, C types. should i be using rechargeables?

Thanks,
Pro-

I'd pick up a rechargable battery pack directly from White's, the type you can pop on a 12V charger overnight. That's what I use on my XLT and, trust me, I wear out long before a single charge does. :D

this has only been in the past 2-3 weeks though. one set of new batteries used to last a while. they just gradually started to fade faster and faster. i would like to know if there is something seriously wrong with it or not.

I can't think of anything offhand that could go wrong on the detector to make it eat up batteries any faster.

One thing I would look at is to make sure your backlight isn't turned on. That'll drain a battery faster than anything. Other than that, nothing really comes to mind.

Might just call White's and run the problem by them to see if they have any ideas.

You might have an electrolytic cap gone bad.

I have the same machine. with the same problem. I am going to order a couple rechargable paks from kellyco. They say they are still available, and turn the backlight off.
I am not satisfied with it for beach use. I intend to get a Soverign GT for the beach.
